January Transfer Thread 2020

Gomes and Gbamin are coming back and instantly improving the team, why would we sign anyone?

I get it’s a bit boring for fans but as a club we’d rather be selling.

....and now the end is near, just a couple of days to go to get any business done. Here’s this mornings Toffee transfer news for Thursday 30th January;

- Virtually every outlet picks up on the Sky Sports story that Everton have rejected a €100m bid from Barcelona for attacker, Richarlison. The Liverpool Echo report Everton have received no bid and the 22 year old Brazilian international is not for sale.

- According to Il Mattino, Napoli midfielder, Allan, is hoping Everton come and buy him before this transfer window shuts. Star Sport suggest it will cost the Toffees £42m to land the 29 year old Brazilian.

- Everton’s official site has announced the departure of 21 year old midfielder, Antony Evans, to Bundesliga side Paderborn on a permanent transfer.

- Football Insider links Everton with a move for Sampdoria midfielder, Ronaldo Vieira. The 21 year old Leeds United academy product is available for £14m.

- The Athletic say Everton are keen on 25 year old Olympique Lyonnaise forward, Memphis Depay.

- Zero Hora report Everton’s pursuit of Brazilian forward, Everton Soares, has ground to a halt. Gremio had demanded €40m for the 23 year old but that has risen because the club now own a 65% stake in the player.

- Amidst interest from other clubs, Football Insider say Everton are in advanced talks with defender Mason Holgate over a new contract.

- According to the Liverpool Echo, 20 year old Everton U23 centre-back, Morgan Feeney, is set to join Tranmere Rovers on loan.

- Gazetta Dello Sport report the chances of Inter Milan midfielder, Matias Vecino, joining Everton are very slim. Negotiations for the 28 year old have ended and manager, Antonio Conte, has decided to keep him at the San Siro. The Liverpool Echo suggest Everton were never interested in the Uruguayan international.
Nearly there eggs. get some time back every morning now to......well post on the forum :)
Cheers for the updates mate

I'd rather see some deadwood moved on than us buy in this window.

The next few months are about evaluation of the squad and getting a robust & cohesive transfer strategy in place that is aligned with having a squad with the skillset to execute the tactical set up that Carlo wants to evolve the squad into playing. We should think about the transfer strategy as being something that will be implemented over a number of transfer windows not just Jan 2020 or summer 2020. It will be players IN and OUT and will take a number of windows to get things sorted. If we can begin to utilise our resources well over the next few season then we can start thinking about Top 6 placings and potentially European football qualification in a few seasons time.

Anyone wanting to run before they can walk is setting the players, the manager and themselves up for un attainable expectations over the next 18-24 months. Unattainable expectations leads to angst and frustration and we don't need that. Manager is in place, Brands is in place. Funds are there. Just going to take time. Everyone needs to be patient and it might take a year or 2 before we see things come together. Mainly due to the filings of previous managers and Moshiri's haphazard approach to manager recruitment.

In summary don't rush into buying anyone this January. Don't expect everything to change in 1 transfer window. It's going to take a fair amount of time to turn things around and start having a Top 6 challenging squad.

sensible posts have no place o here mate :)

Been told by a very reliable source that Brands has lashed a 30 million bid in for Arouna Kone to bring him home and form a killer dream team of him and Prince Oumar.

Please God, let this happen.
It's what we as a fan base deserve.
