January Transfer Window 2023

Well I don't agree, he's pretty much our only creative outlet and Lampard has decided to move him out of the role he was playing in at the start of the season (first in front of the defence so he saw loads of the ball, then in the left advanced channel - where bizarrely he keeps playing Onana and now even Gueye!!).

That being said we need better from him and all the players because in the last few games they have all been crap.

It's not to say he's brilliant, I just don't think he's one of the main problems.
I'le never lose sight of the fact for 2 & half to 3 years he was abysmal under a variety of managers & different systems.
Some thought he'd turned a corner but sorry I knew this was coming.
He is part of our attacking & creative options & agree is not solely to blame.

He's played 99 games for us with a return of 5 goals , well that's nowhere near good enough for me.

Players are either good enough or they are not.
Unfortunately he is not.

yes, he was poor and then in 2022 turned it around when a manager truly trusted him.

Ultimately he's the best we've got atm but that says more about the club than him.

I never bought the idea he was lazy though and he's proved that under Lampard. He's still proving it and if anything in the last few games has started trying to do too much.

But you're right, he's another player that doesn't score goals. We have a load of them and seem incapable of signing anyone who actually can score them.

Gyokeres
Moura (loan)
Lascelles

That would be a good window (and realistic).
Huge gamble that, Moura not been great for a while and another who does score a lot of goals and the lad from Coventry is a punt, I don’t mind taking a punt in Gyokeres if it’s a good deal and we get a kudus type player to play off him or wide

He doesn't get goals, but he's been creating chances. We get a goal scorer in and he'll be back on form.

This is my issue with giving him a new deal, we then are stuck with him till he’s 30/31 and basically will be forced to build the system around him and it will be either 4231 or 532 who ever the manager is. He will be our number 10 for the next 4 yrs.

Never seen the lad from Coventry so would appreciate any insight on him from someone who’s seen more.

However, I don’t think we need Lascelles or Moura even if they are realistic.

I think our best option is to go for players in the final 6 months of their contracts with the clubs wanting out and the players may want something definite. In that case I wouldn’t mind us looking at

Depay (Barcelona)
Marcus Thuram (Gladbach)
Evan N’Dicka (Frankfurt)
Youssoufa Moukoko (Borussia Dortmund)
Houssem Aouar (Lyon)
Jonathan Bamba (Lille)
Moussa Dembele (Lyon)
Thomas Lemar (Atletico Madrid)
Marco Asensio (Real Madrid)
Dani Ceballos (Real Madrid)
Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)
Leandro Trossard (Brighton)

I would take any of them and a lot of them will probably not want to come to us in our current state.

The young striker from Dortmund is a good prospect so perhaps we can sign him on favourable terms with a clause in his contract that he can leave in a year or two for a certain amount plus a relegation clause and he would see that as a way of putting himself in the shop window.

Diaz and Gakpo, as well as Potter for manager. All wanted by Brands 18 months ago. Two now at Liverpool the other managing Chelsea. But Brands was part of the problem apparently.

I’m no idea who Thelwell will be bringing in. Newcastle are looking for a top quality attacker, so don’t be surprised when it’s Chris Wood if they sign one.
Its about who we signed not who we would have liked to have signed. Any DOF could have said they wanted to sign top players. The DOF was paid to make it happen but he couldn't. He was an epic failure

Good list, but I think we’d struggle to get any of them, Trossard isn’t out of contract till 2024 and I couldn’t see palace selling Zaha even for something ridiculous like 25mil, wouldn’t be worth it to them

I don’t disagree mate, I just googled players out of contract and it had Trossard on there. I don’t know enough about Brighton to question it haha

I think we would have a hard sell to attract any of those players but I can dream.

It says it all that we are signing a lad from Coventry so players at top clubs like those I listed may be out of reach given the position in the table and frankly the turmoil in every corner of the club

We’ll sack the Manager after the window opens. Spend at least half of the window searching for a new Manager who will then come in and say “Everyone has a clean slate to show me what they can do” and “We have enough quality already here to get the job done”

We’ll then go down quicker than Katie Price and that c@nt Kenwright will say “We had good times, we were in the Premier League”

This will be followed by someone from GOT snapping and nutting the absolute weapon into orbit and forever sealing their place as a true legend.

A very small silver lining in an otherwise complete sh!te show.
