This is my issue with giving him a new deal, we then are stuck with him till he’s 30/31 and basically will be forced to build the system around him and it will be either 4231 or 532 who ever the manager is. He will be our number 10 for the next 4 yrs.

100% Brands was part of the problem. For every one player you say he recommended, I can pick 2 he purchased who have been a massive failure.

He was also on the board when Allardyce got appointed and Benitez got appointed. If he had anything about him he would have resigned either of those times.

We could say the same about Walsh, he had deals lined up for Andy Robertson and Harry Maguire (regardless how crap he is that could have been us selling him to Utd for 80m) but Koeman wanted Keane instead of Maguire.

Brands, just like Walsh just like a whole bunch of managers, just like Thelwell (based on Maupay and Mcneil being absolutely garbage and Vinagre having the same kind of impact that sticking a pin in a Whale would have) looks to be following suit.

It's been a comedy show of errors for far too many years at Everton and no one at this club will be looked upon fondly in years to come. This board, this group of players will be taking us down unless a miracle happens

But he probably doesn’t except less than a 4yr deal which takes him up to 31, which isn’t old,
Personally I’d wait and see how this season goes and reevaluate in the summer, yes he will only have a year left, but if he’s done well and won’t sign we could get 15mil and move on, he’s done ok the last 7/8 months, but he’s hardly the main stay and driving force in our team.

No worries mate but there's a big difference between playing as a 6 in the Championship and in the Premier League.

I didn't see enough of him at Forest to fully judge where he played but this is going off what people in the game are saying. He's played there at U21 level too but always as more of a double - i.e. with someone else doing the legwork too.

I actually think we need to drop the 4141 anyway and go with a flat three where any of the midfielders drop in, or alternatively play 4231.

I think Garner + Onana makes sense as the 2 in front of defence.

Ahead of that there needs to be signings.

Feels like we need more fight and players wanting to prove themselves.

Championship for me is a great place for that type of player.

Nothing more dangerous that a player wanting to prove people wrong after rejections or release.

Brereton Diaz + Gyokeres dont look like top level goalscorers to me from the snippets ive seen.

Thelwell was linked to moves for some really top young players in the summer. I hope he can bring two in who add pace, creativity and goals.

We could sign Lewandowski and it wouldn't change the fact we create nothing. Part of it is the manager and part of it is the wingers, full backs and midfield lack any sort of creativity whatsoever.

Yea, while I do agree to a a point about Diaz + Gyokeres. I’m kind of hoping for the Baines, Jags, Cahill, Lescott type uplift in them as players. They were not exactly looking like International / prem stars beforre we got them.

Is anyone aware of any actual , strong links of any players to us ?.
What worries me most is the seeming lack of links.
Either we haven't any money whatsoever , aren't willing / able to challenge supposed spending restrictions , orare foolish enough to"go with what we've got ".
The status quo will see us relegated i.e. same players , same manager.
