Relax a bit before the Chelsea match with this. Beautiful ensemble ballad playing in true Kenton style.

These are high school kids, by the way. Their teacher is really proud of them, and why wouldn't he be? From their virtual February concert.

Influential Jazz player and band leader Chris Barber died this recently. Here's a short film with him playing in a London youth club in the late 50s - It's trad dad.

More on this :

Can't remember him-her, what got the individual banned?
He was that crazed multi-creator @Gary_Lineker—85/86.

The lid made up about 6 accounts in the space of a few months and got himself banned every time.

His last outing was as @Jazzman. He pretended to be a jazz musician but @ricardobee clocked him as a fake within a day or two. It then became apparent it was the crazed Lineker lid.

There were loads of safaris mounted by the faithful to out him

Sharing this from our recent concert - the pandemic forced us to break into smaller groups to maintain social distancing, so we put together a program featuring sections and some chamber music. Our lead alto player is a legend in the business (he started the jazz program at the local state U, and worked as a sideman in the 50's and 60's for everybody from Xavier Cugat to Buddy Rich. Look in the liner notes for the Buddy Rich Live at Caesar's Palace album, and you'll find Bill Prince as the soloist in the trumpet section) and arranged this number for our brass section - this number is from Kenton's mid-50's Cuban Fire album, reimagined as an arrangement for his mellophone orchestra (played in tune on french horns here, thank you) This is really good - take four minutes and enjoy.

@ricardobee - Buddy hired Bill to play sax, but moved him to the trumpet section when some guy cleaned up enough to play in the band for awhile. Look at the alto soloist listed on your copy of the Caesar's album and you'll instantly see who it was. Now, pick your jaw up off the floor... Bill is as proficient on sax and clarinet (and flute) as he is on trumpet, which was his original instrument. Knowing him is a joy - he is a prince by name and by his character.
