If Gbamin can come back at a decent level it will transform us next season. Having a decent physical option in midfield to take the strain off Allan and Doucoure will be huge. I just want to see an Everton midfield that can compete with opposition midfields for pace and power without us carrying two or three players who can barely run.
It will be an interesting dilemma, if he can find his fitness/form he would actually be a better option for the Doucoure role than Doucoure tbh

I came here to say that I don't remember what he was supposed to be when we signed him, so I'm not that excited, just hopeful, but I see that a lot of us
on this page feel the same. Maybe he'll turn out to be special, and if he doesn't, meh!

Cannot understand the negativity towards one of our own who has been unfortunate enough to get injured so badly and who has stuck at his rehabilitation to get himself into a position to play again. I believe the lad deserves every credit for what he has done quietly and without any fuss.
I have absolutely no idea if he can make a comeback and be a force in the game, I have absolutely no idea if he will be able to stand up to the rigours of the Premier League but I am hoping for the best for the lad and wish him every success.
Me neither mate. Some people on here never cease to amaze me. Good luck to him.

Would be nice to have the option for all three to play. Gbamin sitting deep heading long balls out, slotting into defence when needed, Allan and Docuoure either side of him bombing up and down, James free to roam ahead of those three. If we could get a decent right back it starts to look like a team that could compete. Depends of course on what level Gbamin comes back to. Then we’d also need far better options to cover that starting midfield than Davies Siggurdson Gomes.

Given his injuries they might choose to do that but he was more of a box to box player who could play at CB if needed. Pre injury before we signed him i don't remember him being short of pace at all.

Wish him well .. after such a long time out he could be like free transfer signing if he's any good!

If he's no good loan him to PSG and then ask for 50m transfer

Gbamin in Front of the back 4, Allan and doucoure pushed further up. Allan can pick a pass and doucoure needs to be in the box a lot more for me.

We will need them both. Through a season, we need more players available than we had.
Need to see if Gbamin can actually play first, i just don't rate Doucoure tbh, he is exactly the right type of player we need but he himself is just the wrong player imo as i don't think he has enough ability to move the ball forward in the way we need to, but he is still a good option to have in the squad.

But that's what i was saying above mate, Gbamin was more of a box to box player than a defensive midfielder, id leave Allan there tbh, prior to his injury he was leading the league for tackles when he was sitting a bit deeper.

If he's still aa good as he was thought to be tge DM position is sorted for next season and if we can someone who can bag 8-10 goals from midfield as a replacement for Delph and Besic I am happy with our midfield next season.

I think we all need to remember he is coming back from a career threatening injury. The sort which has fundamentally caused other players to remodel their game. So let's give him time, support and patience. He could need time to get back up to speed and / or adapt how he plays.

I suspect he may end up sitting deep more, so not so much of the explosive box to box player people are anticipating. Would be great if he is still as mobile etc, but I'm not confident.

I agree with you that gbamin has a lot of energy and power, well I least hope he still has. I only watched him 1-2 times live when he played for Mainz the season Liverpool apparently wanted him but to play at centre back and 40 mil was asking price. YouTube highlights can be misleading but what I did see is he can spray balls left and right from the deep midfield area and drive with yeh ball. The small sample we all got see with our own eyes was he had potential had pace for a tall lad and had power. Now I also agree with you that Allan can easily play the holding midfield role he is great at it, and they could probably change around game to game depending on who we face. But I like the idea of Allan being further up, because he has great feet and agility and can find that pass. Now this could be different if we sign a good attacking midfielder but has to be a good one. Do you think a midfield 3 of Allan, gbamin and doucoure can work?

I think that could actually be really good but it would mean we need some strong signings in other areas. If we did that it would be similar to the RS and the way their midfield recycles the ball constantly. So yeah not great to watch and it would put huge emphasis on the wide areas, for example any RB coming in would need to be someone far better than Max Aarons if we want to play this way, and Richarlison would have to seriously step up his game from what he has shown this season, but yeah it could work.
