2020/21 Jean-Philippe Gbamin

I think that could actually be really good but it would mean we need some strong signings in other areas. If we did that it would be similar to the RS and the way their midfield recycles the ball constantly. So yeah not great to watch and it would put huge emphasis on the wide areas, for example any RB coming in would need to be someone far better than Max Aarons if we want to play this way, and Richarlison would have to seriously step up his game from what he has shown this season, but yeah it could work.
Yeah I have a feeling that Carlo may try the diamond with James at the top. He could then have doucoure and probably gbamin on the wide of the diamond with Allan sitting. This would require a very attacking right back with pace who can get up and down. Who would probably have to be good at defending 1 on 1 as well.

If he is any good and gets up to speed quickly then its one less player we need in the summer. What ever the transfer budget Carlo gets this summer can then be spent on fewer, but better players potentially e.g. right back, right wing and centre midfield.

Regardless of whether he turns to be good for the rest of the season we still need another CM. The options behind the starters are just terrible..

If Gbamin is any good we still need one more. I can cope with the rest but we need someone to replace Delph.

This lad has had a terrible run of luck with injuries since he signed. He was brought on as a sub by Silva and then started in the next game, when even the dogs on the street knew it was far too soon for him to be playing. His subsequent injury was then mismanaged by our medical team, and all this happened while he was 22 and living in a new country.

If there is any justice in the world, surely he will make a good recovery and get his career back on track. I feel that the club owe it to him to carefully manage his comeback, with a view to him having a full pre season and hit the floor running next term. Any minutes he gets this season should be only in no pressure situations, i.e. when we are a couple of goals ahead going into the last 5 or 10 minutes (if that ever happens).

What level was he at when we signed him?

Mid table in Das SPL and a YouTube montage of him miscontroling the ball and vaguely running around.

I want the guy to succeed but he was a mystery package of potential when we signed him, I'm not pinning any hopes to him really.
I prefer to look at it this way...
Yes he looked raw, but...
He looked like he had a good engine on him,
An eye for nipping in and stealing the ball/breaking up play,
An eye for a pass and the ability to transition the ball around the pitch well,
The physicality to compete

How was the injury mismanaged? I'm not saying it wasn't I just didn't realise it was

Over the moon hes back, he looks big and powerful which is exactly what we need in midfield with Doucs out. A midfield 3 of him, doucs and Allan is a well balanced midfield. Hope he stays fit and turns his Everton career around, fair play to him for getting fit again, would have been horrible for him mentally.
