2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

Not in this forum mate.

McNeil will be roundly criticised again in a week or so.

Thing is McNeil is simply not very good, but does sometimes scire a beauty.

Both things can be true.

Still think we are playing out if position a player whose far better as a number ten then him in order to accommodate McNeil in s position he is less exposed and draws less criticism/attention in.

Ndiaye played in that role would far out perform McNeil there imo.

But that number ten role does seem to be kept purely as the preserve of a Dyche favourite regardless of options.

Doucoure and McNeil basically are the only ones allowed there.

Even to the extent of both of those not naturally being number tens whilst we end up shoehorning onto the dings two natural number tens in Ndiaye and Lindstrom.

McNeil not a very good player? That’s utter nonsense. He’s created the most chances of any premier league player so far this season, he works his balls off and scores worldies. He’s not prime David Silva but he’s a very good footballer.

….i actually think that’s a fair point, I often thought Dyche missed a trick not using Dobbin as a sub in the no10 position at times last season.

I don’t get the ‘favourites’ tag with Dyche, he just picks who he thinks is best for the team balance in each position. Well all have different views, of course, but I wonder why Ndiaye or Lindstrom have not been tried there, even for parts of a game. I agree McNeil has a tendency to mess up even the easiest of passes (a few times yesterday he was a simple ball away from putting us in on goal and failed).

It’s a long season, Dyche hasn’t got that balance right yet so maybe Ndiaye or Lindstrom will be tried centrally at some point. If he can’t find the right blend his job will be on the line.

Awwww did poor Jesper get roughed up in a game of football? I will file that with the other excuses people are desperate to make for a player who has done nothing at the club yet.
You're right, he should've just gotten on with it and ran around a lot doing nothing, like Doucoure, McNeil and Harrison do in 99% of the games.

You deserve to watch Dycheball, my friend.

A reflection point here is i think is if Lindstrom had taken the ball out of the air and sent in the cross for McNeill's second like Harrison yesterday - everyone one would be purring about Lindstrom.

Objectively Harrison has earned his shirt next week over Lindstrom on his performance yesterday - he really impacted the game, its how it should be.

He struggled as did everyone in the first half yesterday - coming into a poor team in a new league isn't that straightforward of easy. He'll improve no doubt, but it won't be easy as he's likely to only get spells of minutes here and there which means it'll take longer to get up to speed. I noticed in previous bits of action that he has a tendency to drop his shoulders and shrug his arms about if he loses possession or misses a shot - that's the bit he needs to eradicate and he'll be fine.
