2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

I think Lindstrom is the kind of player who doesn't really instill fear into the opposition. He's a bit lightweight and profligate from what I've seen so far. I wouldn't say that it's game up for him yet, however there is a lot of work needed from him.
I think hes adjusting to the English game. I remember Fellaini was rank at the start. We will see. But he cant be judged on one poor game.

Ok so start Harrison the next match and McNeil, what if either has a terrible game, do they start the next week still or would Lindstrom come back into the side?

Or do we use a different barometer depending who the player is if they lose their spot?
The same measuring device that led to Lindstrom starting the last two games I would assume?

To answer my own question btw, certain players who occasionally can come up with something out the blue gets cut a bit more slack, McNeil can obviously, but Harrison should entirely be judged on his current form, because at us he's never produced anything whatsoever to give him credit in the bank so to speak

It wasn't his performance that stank. It was his attitude. Not seen a player's head go down like that in a long time.... Maybe nyarko?
It looked bad but I'm not willing to go down the body language route just yet, he was awful and hooking him played a big part in turning the game around.

Its a long season though and he covers a few positions so he should be given the chance to work his way back, which he will have to do after that.

Seen some players look absolutely horrid for us initially who went in to be very good to great players.

Pienaar was god awful, looked weak as anything and in no way would you have predicted how well he'd turn out

Jags first games for us he looked like a pub league player playing out of position at DM.

Ratcliffe was getting the dogs from fans at the ground and looked completely lost at this level....

Branthwaites first few games were car crash bad...

Fellaini looked like we'd bought sideshow Bob complete with his clown shoes for the first few months.

Loads more as well on top of those that came to the top of my head.

Lindstrom had a poor day. Harrison has had many in fact most poor days. Unfortunately such a stupid manager will now play Hartison and Doucoure every week because they had their ‘once a season’ good performance….
No right thinking person would play Lindstrom before Harrison next week based on yesterdays performance.
We were a vastly improved team after Harrison came on.
You have to pick the players that play well and for next week that should be Harrison.

Lindstrom is still settling and some take longer than others. Hopefully he will be a very good player for us in the future but he was very poor yesterday.

Saw both Gordon and Delefeou do similar, Ross too.

Also seen entire teams quit on managers they wanted rid of which in my mind is way worse cos it's almost an organised downing of tools by the entire team.

Seen miralles grabbing the ball off a player for a pen and causing way more harm than yesterday. Or big Nev doing his protest at HT which was a sight to behold.

My take, he was having a bad game, got went right through and felt it and let it badly get to him (moreso than he should have) wasn't throwing a strop so much as being badly frustrated and not knowing how to handle it

Yes, yes I do, its just a bit of a desperate one. You may have to accept that one of the many factors managers will consider in selection is the most recent performance and the most recent performance the players competing for his position, certainly doesn't make the manager stupid for not selecting him with these factors as the main contributor
You have confirmed my point. Its ‘one of the many factors…’. So if we were playing a league2 team Wednesday you may choose Lindstrom. Thats not based on the last performance. There may be injuries, tactical considerations. Dyche will prob ‘punish’Lindstrom by dropping him or slapping him.

So, yes if we invent an imaginary fixture on weds you may have a point

Given he's only on about 30 grand a weak I'm sure that we'll be fighting teams off who are after him then.

Remove his set pieces as he pretty much takes every one for us , how many chances does he create from open play mate?

He also messes up badly at times, he's as slow a player as I've ever seen in this league, and he's so I e footed it's painful to watch at times

I did love his fifty yard dribble the other week though were he best 4 men, shame it was from the edge of their box to the edge of our own mind, maybe he got confused which way we were playing....

He played for a good awful Burnley side and is now playing for a pretty dure Everton side, that's the lads level, it's why he's never even had a sniff if interest from any decent dude or got near an international call up.
I take it you rate the lad then...

He shouldn't start the next game, its that simple, if you down tools on the team, are you more or less likely to learn and do it again if there are no consequences.

He goes back to the end of the que, because he doesn't deserve a shirt after yesterday.

Competing for his place again and earning an opportunity wont do him any harm, if hes as talented as some suggest (and i have my doubts) it wont be an issue for him to earn back his place.

Why should Illy bust a gut when his counterpart on the right, pulls up, gives up and waives his arms in the air - then next week just walks back into the team - no!

Its that simple really.
