Transfer Rumour Jesse Lingard

Signing Utds castoffs worked for us in the 00s as they were actually good then.

“After narrowly avoiding relegation, Frank Lampard signed two 30yr olds on £100k a week contracts” - I am hoping we are in the 1/100 timeline where that statement is part of a story about our amazing rebuild to glory.

I would take him on a free. Low risk high reward. Seemed to turn up at West Ham and frozen out at United potentially due to contract issues. Idk. Anyone who can control a ball and pass forward gets my seal of approval these days.

I wouldnt be that quick to turn my nose up at this. He showed at west ham that a manager who got him going he isnt a bad player. And he chips in with goals. We really do need players who can weigh in with goals.

I'm not going to be a snob about this one given the situation right now.

Wouldn't want a 24y Lingard never mind the one close to 30 whose played about 15 games in three seasons and didn't seem bothered about not playing either whilst getting a fat paycheck.

The shouts if he's free - so was Bernard, so was James, so was Rondon, Ginola, Gascoigne, Rooney.

Older players cropping up here on frees on the way down have tended to stink the gaff out and sit there contracts out laughing at us

Lingard makes a lot of sense for us especially on a free, he was great for West Ham and if we get that form then it will be a great signing. Adds goals and some creativity. Him and Dele could be really good for us next season. Both very talented footballers.

…they might be making the same runs & we’d be a bit open for the counter attack if both played in the same team.

Wouldn't even take this absolute tool on a free, because his entire career has been a lack of effort punctuated by consistent mediocrity. Why on earth would we want to commit to paying a weekly wage for three or four years to someone who's had ten decent games in twelve years?

Exactly the type of player that we have been spunking money on over the last five years that has got us into this mess. Swerve with extreme prejudice.

Why do we keep signing 'cast offs' from the Sky 6? they weren't good enough for them and they won't be good enough for what we hope to be. If we sign Lingard, it won't reflect well on Lampard.
