Transfer Rumour Jesse Lingard

By all accounts, his agent has also approached Spurs and West Ham. Moyes has already said No to the wages he asked, and Spurs dont really have a place for him, other than a squad filler, so I assume they wont pay anything near what he wants. Allegedly.

So, if he is still clubless near deadline day, then maybe a free on vastly reduced wages could alter the dynamic.

Why do we keep signing 'cast offs' from the Sky 6? they weren't good enough for them and they won't be good enough for what we hope to be. If we sign Lingard, it won't reflect well on Lampard.

We’ve only just avoided being relegated. We should stop the pretence that we’re going to attract top players.

Lingard did well at a team who are currently well outperforming us.

Not interested if that is his attitude; he's an idiot anyway...and so bang average...

Wouldn't want a 24y Lingard never mind the one close to 30 whose played about 15 games in three seasons and didn't seem bothered about not playing either whilst getting a fat paycheck.

The shouts if he's free - so was Bernard, so was James, so was Rondon, Ginola, Gascoigne, Rooney.

Older players cropping up here on frees on the way down have tended to stink the gaff out and sit there contracts out laughing at us

Football has moved a fair bit to understanding that wages, and contract length are as important as fee.

If wed have paid double what we did for Gomes, but had him on 50% of the wages and a year less contract we could probably move him on easily now.

On the flip of Lingard, someone told me in January that Lingard, Loftus Cheek and Alli were desperate to play for Lampard. I didnt read too much into it, even after we signed Alli. But sounds like it makes more sense.

It doesnt show weve learnt many lessons though.

Well one we are a million miles away from that. And its not an exact science that doesnt work.
Gareth Barry being an example.

This is the type of deal that has gotten us in the financial position we’re in. We need to go back to buying good young cheap players and selling for a higher fee. It’s not going to do our league position any good for a bit but that’s where we’re at.

You’d think, that after doing well at West Ham, he’d possibly lower his wage demands to fit in with their wage structure, but it would appear not.

Newcastle would be the perfect club for him.

That would be the best way to approach it, if interest was genuine. He will not be in a position to dictate terms then.

It's not something that we would need to prioritise. But it might end up being an option for him and us in the last week. Provided we do ok with signings in the interim then this would be acceptable to add some goals.
