Can see him getting some league game time this season, tbh. Martinez is a fan of the Cup goalie, but with the amount of games we've got on and depending on how far we get in each competition, there'll be times it makes sense to play Howard in the Cup(s) and Joel in the League.

I'm hoping there's enough games against lesser teams to give Robles his quota of games for the season early on, then we can have Howard back in the team when it matters.

I know Robles hasn't had much pitch time, but all I ever hear is how dodgy he is. Never heard of him having a good game, never heard of him having a bog-standard normal game. This worries me.
 

honestly everyone sat near me couldnt watch when ever the ball came into our box. He just wont catch the ball and his distribution is awful
 
He's trash, can't imagine how bad De Gea was if he was behind him at Ath Madrid when they were there.

He certainly became more and more panicky throughout the game.

His distribution was awful. His goal kicks went straight into midfield and we were instantly on the back foot. He might as well got Distin to take the goal kicks.

Because he was playing so badly, you could see he was trying double hard to make up for it, he wanted to constantly start attacks when all 11 of our players were defending!

He punched loads of balls away, which was probably the best idea knowing how bad he was. Don't want a keeper who is low on confidence to come running out to mis-catch a cross.

I've tried to defend the keeper, but yesterday he was poor, would prefer Mucha! Hopefully, he'll continue to work hard and improve. A great scenario would be to loan him out and give a veteran a shortterm contract (like how Chelsea did) as cover.
 
Said this to my mate at the game, lad has all the attributes to go on and make a really really good goalkeeper but not the confidence at all. Our fans don't help that what so ever but it is what it is.

IMO the lad needs to go out on loan to either a lower premier league club or a good championship club and get game time, lots of it.

His mistakes will go with game time and also with confidence but it's a bit obvious we can't afford to give him it at the club atm.

We should bring in a experienced keeper as a back up to Howard and loan Joel out for a season or two. I still believe he will become a good goalkeeper for us.

Even Neville Southall looked terrible when he first came.

'Our fans don't help....' -- in what way? The lad has been poor in every game he's played for us. Obviously the crowd are going to be nervous whenever he's called upon to do something. But I've never heard him booed or anything close to it.

Our fans are notoriously bad for giving players they don't like stick nearly every single minute of the game. How would you find it if you were doing your job and every time peoples eyes were on you, you heard groans or snide remarks / shouts. It's off putting especially for a young fella and especially with a guy who is clearly lacking in confidence.
