John Stones Is A Rolls Royce But…

I think it was the right play, personally. If he did anything else, the absolute best result would have been a Spurs throw in. Instead, he got a free kick, we retained possession, and the defensive pressure dropped down a notch. I wouldn't want to see Funes Mori or Galloway do that, but that's only because they don't have the ball skills to pull it off.

Absolutely right bro

At the moment I could just be a caught up in it all thing, normal at a tight match when you're on edge.

Arguing for it now though is a bit mad. It was a boss piece of football.

If they scored from it I could see it being an issue, but, now it might just be me, ive watched it over and over again, but he was never in any danger, it was John F Stones, being John F Stones.

He has looked a little too cocky at times this season but hes still only 21 so he still needs patience while he learns that he doesn't have to step out all the time or go on mazy dribbles. Doesn't help he has someone in goal who none of the defence trust, theyre terrified to pass back to tim under pressure.

If John Stones was regularly dealing competently with the aerial threat posed by high balls played into our box or wasn't being sold a pup by Jamie Vardy and Mahrez then I wouldn't begrudge him that little bit of showboating......if we were at least two goals in front and full time almost up.

But he isn't....and we weren't.

What he did was daft......and even those who think it all right will not, I suspect, wish to see an encore in that position so late in a game so delicately balanced.

I bet the likes of Fergie or Mourinho would tear strips of a centre half who did that in such circumstances

I hope he megs Howard in injury time next game, then gets down onto his hands and knees and heads the own goal in from the line.

Straight up onto his feet and flicking v's at all four corners of the ground with his shorts raised just enough to see his ballsack hanging out.

Martinez would be onto after the game talking about "phenomenal footballing arrogance" and I reckon this forum would spontaneously combust.

This is a perfect example of fans not having patience with young players.

Who does he think he is having bad form or games at 21yo and then deciding for himself that he'd rather keep possession and help us attack rather than hoof the ball and hope for the best!?

Why do have 7 pages of a thread dedicated to one "mistake", if that's what it's called, when other far less talented players get away with a career of being awful.

I won't be upset when he leaves, he deserves better.
