John Stones transfer saga

IF Everton ultimately feel the need to sell (for whatever reason), I hope they at least demand the fee be Valuation + percentage owed to Barnsley or a young player like Bamford.

And the catapult I requested earlier.

He's only upset about the leaking of the bid to the media to try to unsettle the player. They can bid all they like.[/QUOTE

A lot of assumptions in this thread as to who said what to whom and when

I am not sure if anyone really believes that when a club makes an offer its all in secret for that's not really how it works. The club would be duty bound to tell the player and his representatives of the offer. If they didn't and details of he offer got out then the player would rightly be p**ed off. So in effect Stones would almost certainly have known about the offer so the disclosure to the media wouldn't have come as any suprise

Clubs at all levels work to their own code regarding transfers yes there are rules re tapping up indeed Everton are the last PL club to be found guilty of making an illegal approach but there really isn't anything in any rulebook about not making offers public

The dilemma for Everton is that they are saying the player is worth more than £20 million or put another way the club values him so highly that they say they wont sell and even though £30k a week to all of us is huge the club are going to have to give him a big pay rise.

Will he go? Not that I am a betting man but if I know were I would put my £10

Seems like, we got a strong team after all. We just need too keep our players. That is a pretty good stratgy. Soo far no bad signings, and top clubs are after our men. Pretty nice going. We are going too finish in top 3!

The point is Steve whilst Kenwright and the current board are running our club we will NEVER be in a financial position to compete with the top clubs.

The point is Mr Ultimate, that while Everton run by Bill Kenwright or any of the majority of clubs are not run by billionaires or at least multi multi millionaires, it will always be the case that the top three or four billionaire clubs will be able to do this. There is a 'food chain' in football now, based on the value of a clubs backing, with a few English clubs near the top, and with even them topped by some European top names. Once the really big money came into the game from outside sources....be it big business, global tv, American franchisers or whatever else, it was always going to happen.
