John Stones transfer saga

The majority of clubs are labelled as selling clubs. But, we have had to sell to survive, that's the major difference.

Clearly not since the Arteta sale. Lescott Fellaini Rodwell all that money hot reinvested in new players meanwhile big bids for Baines have been rejected and no one else has been sold. We clearly don't need to sell to survive. How is what we are doing different to any other club? It's not. Every club in the league bar Chelsea and City (and even they occasionally now to Madrid or Barca) is a selling club. We are no different and in fact have held onto our better players for longer than a lot of our peers. I'd say we're actually one of the least selling club in the league. We sell rarely and very expensively when we do.

Lets run away xxxx

Chelsea are pretty smart when it comes to transfers. They might pay 30m but it's pointless comparing him to Sterling since attacking players are far more expensive.

Wasn't really comparing him to Sterling directly. Just pointing out tbe excessive fees clubs are willing to pay for young talented English players.

I'm off to see what odds I can get at the bookies for him to stay and I'm going to lump on it. He's not going anywhere, he's not an idiot.

Chelsea will still be there in 2 or 3 years when he would be a nailed on starter if that's something that he wants. Goodison is the place for him to be right now and he knows it.

This new TV deal gives these horrible SKY faves absolute mega money. I wouldn't blink until Chelsea start going north of 100mil.
He is potentially the best centre half of this obscene money fuelled generation and we are only just at the start of it.

I personally still would not sell.

You're a mad man.
Player of the season in 2013/14; would have been again if injury hadn't intervened.

I think some sanity needs to be restored where Stones is concerned. Yes he is VERY VERY good. Yes we all want him to stay. But if the cash is HUGE and we get all of it to strengthen elsewhere then we can cope.

sorry mate but just no

Mate even someone like Mings cost 8 mil and hes unproven.

If we pick up a prospect, we then have to blood him in for a few seasons, take a few mistakes, then once we're about to reap the benefits in swoops one of the big boys who take him away.

Same as stones? Worked once for us lol

Its all down to scouting mate, if you know how good someone is then you can sign them before anyone really knows who they are.

I mean did you know who john stones was? Cause i bloody didnt!

plus Lescott if he wasnt injured when wolves came up would have cost more than 5 million but thats because he had chance to prove himself.

But yeah, take a gamble on young players and you get either a duffy or a stones. point being you dont know at 18 what they will turn out like, you can only play them and find out

I think both Cahill and Stones are very similar. Cahill cost Chelsea 8M and by factoring in inflation so I'm gonna fume if we don't get at least 9M for Stones.

That's like comparing a beach donkey to a thoroughbred racehorse. Terry has made people think Cahill is a top defender. He's rank average and has the Perfect scapegoat in Jags to cover all his cockups for England.
