John Stones transfer saga

I cant underline enough how much I hope we retain Stones. I'd be delighted if Stones came out and said he doesn't want to go.

But are we really at the point where we see the departure of a player like Stones in the same light as the Rooney departure? Not for me. Not even close.

I actually do, sort of.

We're not in the weak position we were when Rooney had to be sold, but Stones is every bit as good a prospect as Rooney was. I've never seen a defender like him at Everton and he'll be up there with the best in the world in another 3 years or so. We all knew Rooney was going to be a top player (although he's maybe fallen a level below what we thought he would get to), and Stones is the nest "cert" we have. Barkley may or may not end up a top player, but Stones most certainly will.

Not that it's been offered and not that it has anything to do with me but 20m, Zouma, Bamford and Remy......Yesh I'd take that.

Remy and Rom would be scary stuff for our opposition.

That's like comparing a beach donkey to a thoroughbred racehorse. Terry has made people think Cahill is a top defender. He's rank average and has the Perfect scapegoat in Jags to cover all his cockups for England.

Cahill is a top defender, so is Jags. The beach donkey is the England squad.

Is this what we have become, hoping a player will give us one more year?

We were one of the Giants of the game and this board has allowed us to be easy pickings, lowering our expectations.

We will always be in this position while they are in charge. If Lukaku has a good season, it'll be the same with him next year.

Why aren't we as a fan base fighting back against this? It really is time we started applying huge pressure onto this board or we will be forever shackled.

Gone before start of the season. Just can't see us being able to hang onto him, once they come back with a proper bid.

We can always say no mate to any amount they make, because at the end of the day the lads stock is only going to go up because he is going to get better, and better. Also, I don't think he is the type of lad to rock the boat to force a move.

Doesn't have like 4 years on his current deal?

I don't think he can really do that. If he wants to move it would be better for him to agree a timescale with Martinez. This summer is too early both for us and for him.

3, I believe. I don't think Stones would either, more likely to discuss a move if our season is the same as last one.

Stones to me is the shining light in this Everton team, the guy that EVERY Everton fan loves and is proud to have playing for us. Other supporters will talk to us of Barkley and we reply 'Its Stones that is THE one, he'll be England captain one day.'
To lose him would be gutting, all the excitement to see what he will achieve in his career will turn to a horrible feeling in my gut watching him do it for a team I despise.
Personally I don't think he will go, when he inevitably does it will be to Man Utd, maybe City as hes a northern boy and wont go London

I think more clubs will be in for him, a transfer saga I am indeed dreading.

He'll play for Chelsea one day, he's a natural replacement for Terry. Honestly he is the brightest young talent of his generation and will go right to the very top, we need to ensure he leaves us as the most expensive English defender in history

I don't think handing in a request is necessarily 'rocking the boat'. Surely if they offer a really good amount of money, it would be hard for Stones to say 'nah, I don't want to join the champions and get regular CL football, I really want to stay at Everton'. It'd be understandable if he told the club he wanted to go.

If I thought Stones would be bench-warming at Chelsea then I'd hope he'd stay, but I reckon he'd get plenty of match-time, what with Terry not getting any younger.
