John Stones transfer saga

We didnt NEED to sell arteta either, we still did at 10 to 11 and made the money dissapear.

Point is, im not turning my nose up at anyone. It is the general reaction that us losing stones to chelsea is the same as city losing someone to them. Stones would be stepping up in his career, and why would anyone think he wouldnt want to do that? Just because he is our player.

If I were him, I wouldn't go. You'd make money in the short term, but I'd have confidence in my own ability and know how my development has rocketed since joining the club, and wouldn't risk Francis Jeffers-ing my whole career by moving down south, barely getting a game and ending up playing in Australia within a few years.

I'd definitely stay at Everton for at least another season, and that's not the blue-tinted specs on there either. My logic would be I'd earn the money lost on that year of staying in a future contract, as I'd have one more year of regular football under my belt, and I'd be going into Euro 2016 in a settle environment to impress there.

Or he could go to Chelsea, earn more money and win stuff and not have to listen to Martinez talking utter pony everyday.

better than stones now, and yes there is plenty. Vertogan (spelling), Alderwield, Sahko, Mertesaker (when he isnt turned), Dante to name a few.

All right of this minute are better centre halves through experience and the reliable type so to speak.

would signing alderwield have improved us? probably. Will stones be better? Yes.

Ha ha. Alderweireld Sakho and Vertonghen are complete myths. Mertesacker has his obvious limitations and Dante can't get in a team with Benatia and Boateng who aren't inspiring themselves. I'd have Stones of today over the lot let alone what Stones of 5 years from now might be like.

Think your missing the point mate...the dont roll over for a belly rub anymore.
If you want to buy from us you will pay Top Top over the odds money.
We dont want to see part of our future ripped away by a Small Fish London club.

I actually don't have a problem with selling Stones for a huge sum of money. However, I think it would be daft for Everton to do it now.

1) Stones is one of only two senior centre halves, we are only 2 weeks away from the season and we have a very difficult first 10 matches.

2) He will play every match of this season for us when fit and will be heavily involved at Euro 2016.

3) His value is highly likely to have increased next summer, with several clubs being interested.

We could agree with Stones that we will agree to let him go next summer, provided a club reaches our valuation. We can then plan over a long period of time how we will evolve the squad with that sale in mind.

Alternatively, we could invest a good chunk of money in an effort to build the best possible squad including Stones, and go all out to win some silverware for the fans. :p

i agree totally mate, he should stay. hell been saying stones is our best asset for quite some time now, i rate him very highly. Perfect world we would sell someone else or not sell at all but ewhat can you do? when a russian billionaire wants your player all you can really say is 'how much you willing to pay?'

If chelsea really want him then we (and i hope we do) have an amount to sell him at right now. If chelsea dont match it then great, saga over for 12 months. But i wouldnt want us playing a young defender on the basis of one more year or a loan back. rather have his replacement in now in that case/.

But im hoping the above does happen and they dont meet the valuation

Yeah i agree. But if chelsea want our player then they will get out player no matter how much or little it would cost to do so. This was my point all along, we dont NEED to sell him, but if the offer is what we want then we will anyway, no matter how much we rate the lad. Its business and whatever the official value the club have on stones head right now they are just waiting for that to be met rather than fighting off advances for him

Stones is a young defender now though who makes mistakes.

My tagline for any young player is i am happy for them to play and make mistakes and learn if they are OUR player. Right now Stones is and im happy for the odd slip up because he is ours at the end of the day. If we were to loan him back or agree a deal ofr next year or wahtever i wouldnt want him playing.

but if categorically we valued him too high for teams so we werent selling him on that basis then yes id have him in the team over the above.

Sahko is a french international defender. He is pretty solid, or was before he signed for liverpool. bias aside he is a decent defender given the right team.

He's absolutely toilet mate. Distribution is awful, positionally clueless.

Do you think Liverpool would sign him today for £18million if they had the option to?

I agree with you though, there are better defenders in the league than Stones. I'd go

Koscielny
Terry
Jagielka
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Mertesaker
...to name some of the ones I can remember
