John Stones transfer saga

The money has allowed them to cheat (yes cheat) their way to the top and stopping the likes of us and spurs competing fairly. Imagine what a couple of seasons in the CL could have done for us.
Players taking performance enhancing drugs, fielding larger squads or bribing officials is cheating. Having more resources is clearly not cheating.

It may not feel entirely fair or just with such differences in wealth between clubs, but hey ho that's sport for you. It's not a level playing field.

Is it cheating that at the Olympics countries such as China have larger population and thus having a larger chance of finding potential stars?

Is is cheating that America are a wealthier country than say Cambodia, therefore they are able to ply more resources into development of athletes?

Personally, I'd say no for both. In any sport some groups (clubs, countries etc) will have more resources than others. It's competition.

I doubt you'd be moaning and claiming it was all unfair if we were bankrolled by some Sheikh.

What makes a big club?

Bigger crowds ?

More trophies?

Bigger income?

People bang on and on about this not just here but just about every forum in truth it's all about opinions

You can't measure the size of a club in today's PL with the size of a club in DIv 1 in say 1901 nor is a clubs history just measured in trophies that's arrogant and disreputful to supporters of clubs who turn up every week in lower leagues and indeed non league where clubs have a rich a vibrant history and believe me it takes far more devotion to watch a smaller club than it does to turn up at any PL game

It all smacks of being in the school yard .

What the hell does it matter with whose club is bigger than whose club for unless there is a standard measurement that can be applied it's all cr**

It seems to matter to Jose Mourinho.

It was he who started this latest bit of schoolyard smacking.

I'n just sayin'

:p

This would apply to very few Everton fans I know..I'm not saying we are better than other fans...but we are certainly more passionate than most.
How would you explain the masses that travel to aways/abroad despite winning nothing - the counter to the initial argument

at the moment a final or indeed a game in Europe for the Europa is a novelty to us as its hardly happened in the past 20 odd years. If we had been in the champions league final the year before, won the league and 3 FA cups in the last 5 years then another FA cup final probably wouldn't get the excitement pumping quite as much as it would when we were in the 2009 final, that being that first for a long while.

Black market tickets in the Everton end in 2009 were £400 or £500 a pop which is why I didn't go, Chelsea's were £150 purely because it was such a novelty for us that everyone wanted to go and hence the ones that did cheered the team on with everything they had.

its ridiculous for anyone to suggest we aren't a big club, we are Everton, famous around the world and producer of some truly great teams over the years, a big fan base, a lot of history and honours. Chelsea can say the same, the only difference is that they currently have probably their greatest team playing whereas we haven't had one for 25 years.

And consistently filing the away ends at grounds all over the country - even in midweek?

Not much novelty value there, is there?

Heritage matters as much as 'history'. We have - as a club - given the entire football world a good few of the things the fans now take for granted today.

I agree, but a fair number of teams fill their away allocation every game, Chelsea included I would imagine

On the plains of Africa the graases there can grow to a height of 6 foot .
One particular tribe living there do not grow above the height of 4 foot six inches.

They are know as the "wherethefuckarewe " tribe.

That is what I would dearly like to know now.

Everton fans have been travelling in their numbers for donkey's years ...The argument about not being as arsed after winning things doesn't stack up either, I was like a big kid for the 84,85,86, 89 finals, the Simod Cup final, the zenith thingy...and every charity shield in between, so were everyone I travelled with.
There would never be an occurance when Everton fans would behave in a similar 'not arsed' way as the Chelsea fans in 2009...never

This thread reminds me of a chant United sing about City.....highest floodlights....bluest seats....Massive.
