Augsburg chairman Klaus Hofmann has insisted that the German club do not need to sell talented full-back Baba Rahman amid interest from Chelsea, as per Goal.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a summer exit to either AS Roma or Jose Mourinho’s Premier League champions after a stunning season in the Bundesliga. The left-back was by far Augsburg’s most important – and best – player as he won 91 tackles in the league, which was more than any other player in the entire division managed.
Rahman was both solid in defence and a real asset in attack but despite strong rumours suggesting Augsburg sre about to sell their prized asset, the club’s chairman Hoffman has issued a strong statement explaining that they’re in no need to sell the Ghana international.
“We do not need the Baba millions,” he said. “We have a good, solid team here. I am very optimistic that Baba will continue his great performances with us. He’s made a very good impression at our recent training camp. “Why keep Baba? I am an Augsburg fan. To me, it’s more important that I spend the evening watching Augsburg win with a beer in my hand than when we have more money in the bank account.
“There’s no need to even talk about an offer under €20 million, as I’ve previously stated.”
