John Stones transfer saga

Mourinho was asked after their preseaon loss to the redbulls about a second offer and Mourinho shook his head and a media spokesperson jumped in and said they "weren't going to give a running commentary on that" which is a bit of a surprise since they seem to have done exactly that the past few days!

Bit about Stones ~40 secs in to the video

Jose body language tells the whole story isn't it. They have given up more or less, and getting the message loud and clear that stone is not for sale unless they are willing to pay ridiculous amount of money.

Even the record on transeers thing is a myth. Been involved twice, selling Alan Ball and buying Latchford

True that. Always thought Cottee was a record for some reason, but he wasnt. In fact, pretty sure Villa have been involved in more record transfers than us, although I expect at least one was paid in groats. Or corn.

That whole press conference was a bit odd, Jose seems the type to not give up on anything he really wanted so tbh unclear what it means going forward. Perhaps concentrating on getting in the left back first?

Behaving with a bit of class perhaps? Giving us the respect we deserve surely, comparing to what he said about rooney few seasons back.

Or maybe softening his stance to avoid pushing the price higher?

he has clearly been told not to talk about stones by someone

It's all been lost in translation - turns out Abramovic had asked for transfer policy to be 'a little bolder'

(Apologies to those I stole that joke from)

Pretty belated if he is.

Think @neil999 is correct and he's been told not to talk about it but the interesting question is who has told him especially as there is a very limited list of people who Mourinho will listen to.

Perhaps the FA have told him to shut up or face charges, more so if Everton have lodged a complaint.
For those of you new to the forum this is an annual event regarding our best players 'done deal' being the buzz phrase, harking back to the days when we had to sell to buy.
Times have changed but alas not the agenda driven opinions of some posters on this forum.

Hey Jose!

Hope it isnt who I fear it is.
Yeah, that thought had crossed my mind too but trying not to allow my nervousness to get the better of me!

Ffs just come back from holiday where I was nice and chilled about all the speculation or the lack of incoming transfer rumours and taken me all of 3 days to get back to the slight knot of worry in my stomach
