John Stones transfer saga

......looking increasingly like it's a matter of how much we get for the lad. Like most, I would prefer him to stay. Like most I can only see his value rising in future seasons. Rather than a prolonged saga, if he is not for sale Everton should publicly say he's not for sale at any price. If we are willing to let him go we should come out and tell suitors how much we want. That figure should be around £40m at the very least.
If Thats the case they already know what we want

At the poker table the less you say and do, the harder it is for your opponents to read your hand.

Bill's got his poker face on.

As well as the club saying that Stones isn't for sale, the absolute best thing would be for Stones himself to say he is indeed 100% happy at Everton, does not want a move and wishes other clubs and the media would just naff off and leave him to just get on and play football.

Are you sure that's how he feels?

Obviously no, I am sadly not entirely sure that's how he feels especially after all the BS of the last ten days, but if he is happy, if he came out and said so, the problem might simply go away... at least till January.

From this mornings Guardian...

Chelsea will make a £26m bid for John Stones within the next 48 hours. José Mourinho remains desperate to sign the Everton defender and has not been put off by Roberto Martínez’s anger over the battle for his signature.

There is no battle, we have his signature and four more years of it if we hold our nerve.

The Premier League champions had a bid of £20m turned down by Martínez last week with the Spaniard furious with Mourinho, his Chelsea counterpart, for openly talking about the move.

Yet the Portuguese has seen his defenders struggle so far during the club’s North America tour and will push on with his pursuit of the England international.

Tough titty Jose, live with it if your defenders are gash.

Stones, 21, is understood to be keen on a transfer to the Premier League champions and knows the option of playing Champions League football next season will ultimately be too good an offer to refuse.

Absolutely nothing anywhere to suggest he is keen to move, more media BS.

Relations between the two clubs remain strained and hearing Gary Cahill, who has played with Stones for England, commenting last week how beneficial it would be to have him at Stamford Bridge did not go down well on Merseyside.

Mourinho, however, has not been deterred and is hopeful a fee can be agreed before the start of the Premier League season on 8 August.

Stand firm Everton, do not get bullied into this !!!

Stones is seen as the perfect long-term replacement for John Terry. The fee could go higher than £30m depending on how long Martínez digs his heels in.

Bang out of order journalism, makes it sound like we're being petulant over wanting to retain a contracted player. Keep on digging our heels in Blues, screw Chelsea and the Sky darlings.

It will represent the first major spending of the summer for Chelsea after bringing in Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco and signing Asmir Begovic from Stoke.

Mourinho has watched with interest as his Premier League rivals spend huge amounts to wrest domestic power away from Chelsea.

After Saturday’s friendly win over PSG here he accused Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool of trying to buy the title.

The hypocrisy is unreal... He wants to spend whatever it takes to prise Stones away from us and yet accuses others of buying the title.

“In the beginning of Mr Abramovich coming to Chelsea, Chelsea was buying the title,” said Mourinho. “Now, they are buying the title. All of them, they are buying the title. It is up to us to be strong and to fight them and, obviously, to try and win it again, even without the big investments.”

Without the big investments? Well phoook off and leave Stones and Everton alone ya blert.

Without checking, I guess the "journalist" is Steve Brenner...again. He's done nothing but write about Chelsea this summer. I guess he's the Guardian's new Chelsea correspondent. Ridiculous.

Yup, Brenner in NY with Chelski. Git.

Unfortunately Liverpool's stance over Sterling has set a bit of a precedent. If you hold your nerve you remain in a strong position. People can't just cancel contracts.

They had Sterling for 2 years, refusing to play and his agent attacking the club and still got top dollar. We have Stones for 4 years. If Chelsea think they can turn his head they are missing the subtle changes that are occurring.
