John Stones transfer saga

...it may be in the pipeline, but it'll only get green-lighted with a cash injection. Where's that coming from then?

I distinctly remember you telling me last yr that we weren't going to spend the 30M+. We did.
Are genuinely trying to tell me that you believe we dont have money to buy unless we sell??

We will spend 20M before the window closes.

That's a massive statement, Bryan. He's miles off. I'm Jagielka's biggest critic when he's screwed things up, but he was the defender last season that put the performances in during the last third of the season that made the difference. Stones has a lot of weaknesses in the defensive side of matters. He'll be an England player regularly enough, of course. But £30M+ is compensation enough for a eaw talent like this.

Not convinced he's got the ability to be a Pique, tbh.
I think he has, the lad is 21 and Mourihno sees his potential, just not financially. Not sure why. It's not coming out of his sky rocket.

I genuinely have never seen a more naturally gifted defender in my life. He will captain England if he continues to progress at the current rate, I've no doubt.

Champions League level he'd be torn apart. Positionally he's weak. He can learn, but another club needs to take that task on.

Get the deal done for him and move swiftly on.

It'd be good for him, a necessity for us.
Your deluded if Stones goes watch our other stars go through the exit door!
Leave RM with no room to fetch in replacements for the seasons start - KM an Lukarku would want out!

So, how much have we got 100%
How much will we get for Stones? £30M-£35M? There's the answer staring you and everyone else in the face.

Almost into the season and no serious transfer movement? That's all I need to know about this summer's transfer kitty.

Mate, don't make statements about our spend like that without consulting @davek as he has 100% record on these things. He just won't share what this years is.

Popcorn level 5000

So how'd we buy McCarthy, and pay for Lukaku, Barry and Deulofeu's loans?

Sold:

Fellaini 27 mil
Chebes 6 mil
Jela 7.5 mil

Total 40.5 mil

And ins from 13/14 and 14/15:

Lukaku 28 mil
Barry 2 mil signing agreement from loan
Deulofeu loan, free because he played so many games
McCarthy 13 mil
Kone 6.5 mil
McGeady 1 mil
Joel 1.5 mil
Besic 4 mil

Total 56 mil

Net: 15.5 mil spent

So let's call that 7.25 mil budget per season, which is probably around our prize money from our league finishes and not input from the board. Not exactly good backing from the board, is it?

Everyone sees he's gifted with the ball at his feet. But you can bet your bottom dollar that Mourinho wouldn't play him in big games in the near future. He's just not up to the job of being aware of where he needs to be as a defender.

Anyone would think that Stones wasn't part of an Everton defence that cant defend set pieces. He's a massive culprit in that.

Well off top notch for me.

We'll regret it if we dont bite Mourinho's hand off when they come back with £30M.

The SKY Dave .....The SKY.

Alas £6 million less last season, less domestic cup monies and little to nil transfer income. ok there was the EL but that's no cash cow

The hint was in the accounts and the warning about borrowings even at the 2014/15 levels possibly not being guaranteed by the bank and player trading being a key factor in future negotiations.

I suspect the transfer budget has already been spent and nothing else will happen to someone is sold

There's certainly been movement mate.

We've tried for Ogbonna. We've tried for Dann. We have probably tried for Payet. Just because we didn't get them doesn't mean we didn't try to spend the money.

What remains to be see is whether this money will magically fade away into the bit of oblivion and cease to exist if/when Stones goes. "We've reinvested every penny of the Stones transfer into the club" - yes Bill, but what about the £10m+ that you were willing to spend beforehand?
