John Stones transfer saga

Anyone else consider the possibility that Chelski , for whatever reason, we're not going to spend much this Sumer and have used the Stones bid a s a bit of a "we tried and it did not come off " story to pacify fans? Those bids were never going to be accepted.

I think Chelsea just genuinely thought EFC would snap their hands off at a £20million bid. I have said it before, they are effectively buying their next club captain and the finest young defender in the country. There is only one way his value is going and if they don't get him this window they will face inflation and stiff competition next summer.

Mourinho just been on a live interview with Alan Brazil on Talksport. Said that for him the transfer window has shut and they will not be buying any more players.

Take it with a pinch of salt, but its straight from the horses mouth. Think he's been told to do one by Everton myself.

Jose is a horse?
I know Alan Brazil talks a load of horse **** :)

Yep could be right about the bid. I still think it was a joke though. Hopefully stones will think 'if you wanted/rated me that much you'd have gone all the way now'. Basically though he will just wait and see how things go. He is destined for high things and will just see how the offers come in over the next two years of his career. Which is of course what most players do most of the time!! It is their job!he should be ambitious for himself, hopefully in an Everton shirt for as long as possible. I would hate to see him there though being another JT. Hope he stays classy whatever.

But if a player was so unhappy with a managers training methods that he didn't want to play for him why would he sign a new contract with that very same manager?

Players who have extended their contracts under Martinez - Howard, Jagielka, Stones, Baines, Garbutt, Coleman, Hibbert, Osman, Naismith, Barkley ie most of our backline that would be most impacted by the defensive drills.

And players who signed on permament after being on loan Lukaku, Deulofeu, Barry and apparently Lennon is keen and Cleverley actively wanted to come to play for Martinez.

So that leaves Robles, Oviedo, McCarthy, Mirallas, Kone, McGeady, Pienaar, Besic, Gibson as the only ones who haven't and three of those already had extensive experience with Martinez's training methods yet chose to sing anyway.

I don't have the answer to any of that sorry mate, I pass on what I hear. I wasn't told the specifics of the supposed problem

If they thought the price was £20 million the first bid would have been around the £10-15 million mark

As for Mourinio said he doesn't say that Chelsea won't be buying anyone else in this window his comments are more about his focus being on what he has. I had a quick look at their squad and they have slots available for three or four more and if reports are correct they will sign a fullback as a minimum so that I think rules out no more business comment

Chelsea signed a massive deal with a new shirt sponsor in the summer and yes I know they are thinking about a huge upgrade of the stadium there is no way that they won't be looking to buy if and when an opportunity crops up.

Ok Chelsea aren't now saying anythingof note or at least not in public about JS nor come to that are Everton but the clock is ticking and far from seeking solace I can't help but feel something is I place for either this or next summers window. If it is I am pretty sure a Chelsea player will soon turn up at Everton either on loan or on the cheap.

It's no surprised that Terry said yesterday that he wants to go on for another two seasons, then Maureen declares their window shut the day after.
I've always thought it was down to John Terry perhaps having a tough pre-season and them panicking that he's finished. The last couple of weeks he seems to be finally getting up to fitness and the urgent interest in Stones this season has lessened.

If Terry get injured or loses what little pace he still has then they will be back.

Anyone who post on here regularly knows I post sporadically. I hear things from a mate from time to time as his uncle is a driver for the club, I said in here a while back about how some of the players weren't happy with his training. I spoke to the mate again tonight and he said his uncle had mentioned a few things to him

1) firstly I will get this one out the way as it is in the Stones thread. Basically he got a call off stones to pick him up before the Villarreal game, spoke to him on the way to the game. He said he would like to play for Chelsea but wouldn't force a move and had a meeting with the manager on Monday. As nothing has happened I assume he's probably staying or we would have let Chelsea know a deal could be done and another bid would have come in.

2) basically the problem I mentioned with the players and training hasn't gone away. Up to 8 first team players want rid of Martinez. Distin spoke out about what the players feel are naive tactics to hold onto the ball and practice very little defensive drills. He got froze out and let go.

The rest of it was basically Coleman and Delefeuo have struck up an unlikely friendship and McCarthy still being upset about his contract. People don't have to believe the information, I'm not saying I believe it, just something I got told I thought I'd pass on

Thanks for posting. I had wrote similar about several of the players are not on board with the manager a few months ago - people don,t understand that this discontent goes far beyond one or two players.

This is only going to go one way when the players and the board appear to be standing on the sidelines in terms of the support of the manager.

There's ALWAYS grumblings like that though when any team isn't winning as it's always the managers fault they lose.

If we win games the grumbling will disappear.

Could do without John Terry talking on Sky about how Stones is the future backbone of Chelsea.

The sheer arrogance of these people knows no bounds.

He doesn't play for you!
You've failed with 2 bids!
You've been told he's not for sale.
The player doesn't want to leave as he's not handed in a transfer request!

This shameful tapping up by media is absolutely tawdry.

It's the sort of crap that turns me off football completely.
