John Stones transfer saga

Tbh I have been told the exact opposite re transfer request.

Iam led to believe he is happy to stay, however he would be interested in moving (who wouldnt?) should the club accept an offer.
I am led to believe he wont force anything; far too much respect for the club and Martinez especially.
He listens more to his family and partner than what his agent wants him to do; very humble guy.

I have also been told that Barca are very interested and that the Geri deal was very much a sweetener for the future.

It is incredible the nonsense that is posted on this thread, it really is.

The players are unhappy with the manager...that old chestnut pops up every now and again , it is nearly always from a taxi driver or somebody who works for the club.

In spite of these people having an intimate knowledge of players feelings towards the manager and other highly sensitive information they haven't got a clue about who we are selling or buying. When I hear these "heard from" stories I regard them as absolute nonsense.

The manager said at the weekend that he wants three players in , that is well documented . I think that if anybody is to leave it will be Mirallas simply because of what happened during the January transfer window, but I think it likely at this stage he may stay because the bids for him have been very low and the clubs that would interest him do not appear to be interested in him, but time will tell.

If there was no money to spend I don't think the manager would be talking about bringing in players.

I think that his targets are Evans for centreback and Sergei Roberto for midfield. Those are the current targets and he has to wait to see if they are available or not for different reasons.
I think the need to sign another striker has come about since the start of preseason with the realisation that Kone is not any longer a premiership striker. Who the new striker will be is anybodys guess.

in true Queen of Hearts fashion I am choosing to believe this version of events....;)

Does Stones get a say in that?

Stones would be crazy to say no if Everton ripped up his current contract and offered him a longer one on greatly improved terms, cos if Chelski or anyone else still showed serious interest in trying to sign him, then the price would go even higher and his cut for not handing a transfer request would be so much higher too. Everton would surely lose a top, top prospect, but gain in terms of finances.
I don't want Stones to go but hey, the club needs to protect itself and extract every penny it can in the event of a bidding war breaking out.

Can't help but have a sense of deja vu with this, run up to the end of the window, quick sale, no time to spend the money, tried and tested, the Everton way...

Someone who reckons they know kenwright said stones wants to go and Everton are waiting for a bid of £35m or £32m with add ons. The fella is in the theatre industry and buys shows off him for the theatre he owns not far from Liverpool .

Whether I believe what he said is another matter but personally I do think once we hit the mid £30m mark he is gone .

As someone else said to me today we have one of the richest boards in Britain (granchester , woods, green, earl) yet woods and green won't invest as they don't like kenwright and earl and green have a noose round our neck and our strangling us for every penny. Kenwright is to blame for that.

We have a ground that is leaving us behind everyone else add the board issues, in ten years we will be in the championship if it carries on . We can't keep relying on finding a Coleman or a stones air producing a Rooney or Jeffers , ball, rodwell etc to keep us ticking over . The likes of city are snapping up all the young talent now .

The only thing we own is the land that goodison is built on and that's worth buttons.

Our club is in trouble.

Not sure he would be crazy to turn one down as it all comes back to what his intentions are.

I would agree that Everton would be crazy not offering him a new contract but if he is being paid say £30 k a week then the offer would would need to double as a minimum that sum and probably then some. So the question is firstly could Everton afford say an extra couple of million or so added to the wage bill and secondly there is nothing guaranteed in football and at this point in time yes he has huge potential but in 12 months time a whole catolgue of things could have conspired to halt his development

we could have said that 10 years ago mate and here we still are. I agree whole heartedly with you, but we seem to be defying logic the way we go about things
