John Stones transfer saga

Stones himself has said at the fan event in Singapore that he sees himself at Everton for the long term and progressing with us. Imo we can rest assured he ain't going nowhere.

We must be doing something right if we have a bunch of highly desirable young men in our team.
I'm not saying we couldn't be doing better.

Should have absolutely nothing to do with the press/media etc...he is an Everton player, Everton should decide the price...don't wanna pay it? Do one...as has been said before, we don't have to sell

But you and I know that media influence is a very real thing mate

They will bully us and the player himself to make the move. Just watch. It always happens when a "big" club wants one of our best players. People on Radio such as Talk Sport, TV such as Sky News and in the anti Everton papers like The Mirror will be going on about how it's best for Stones to move and how the club is holding him back

They might not outright force the move, but they'll be there in the background chipping away. You can have a thick skin for these sort of things, but if everyday for 2 months all Stones hears about is how he should move, it has to have an effect, if only slightly

There are a number of pro Kopite and anti Everton people in the media who will be licking their chops at this bid. A chance to put plucky little Everton in their place. The same people having a go at Sterling for "being disloyal to Liverpool" will now be having a go at Everton for "standing in Stones way"

Nailed. On

It's not Stones I am worried about. The board won't turn down a 30+ plus offer.

Sorry mate but being self sufficient is not relying on TV money which makes up an alarming percent of our total revenue, by the turn of the decade we will have the worse most inefficient ground in the league bar 1 or 2 recently promoted teams at that time. We have spent 4 million quid so far on the back of finishing 11th last season, when everyone acknowledges its better for your squad to complete a full pre-season together where as we are currently 20 days away from the start of the season, we have 2 CB's in the first team squad, no creativity in midfield, 1 striker of note a poor goalkeeper. And 3 if our best players are being linked with other clubs Macarthy stones Mirallas.

And you think we are on the rise? I'll have pint of what you're on. We are just existing, an that's why papers try selling our players because they know the make up of the club.
Every club in the league relies on the TV revenue ffs.

Some fans honestly don't care as long as they can have their pint on a sat. It's scary, this isn't the club my old man told me about when I was growing up

Mate, what club did he tell you about? If you haven't got on by now they break your heart all the time...

Wouldn't even consider sitting down with them to negotiate because that hands them some power, their assumption that they can bully us with low bids would be validated and they'd think they can nick him for £40m which is too low. It's the foot in the door effect, psychology 101.

Simply don't entertain any offers.

I'll just about accept him leaving if he goes for more than Sterling. This lad is going to captain England and be the best centre half of this generation. don't get this we need to money nonsense anymore, it's not as if we will spend it anyway.

The reason why many see his sale as an eventual inevitability is because John Stones is clearly destined to play at the very top of the game, hence why the league champions are trying to sign him when he is just 21 years old. What can we offer him? Mid-table mediocrity and the label of being the best squad since the 80's every single bloody year. That isn't a good enough offer for someone like John Stones in the long term, it just isn't, and it won't be enough to keep him at Everton.

I would have thought Stones himself realises he has some developing to do, and Everton is the best place for it. He makes quite a few mistakes - but that's Ok here. That wouldn't be the case at Chelsea.
