John Stones transfer saga

Chelsea are fairly sensible so won't go anywhere near 35m, we won't accept less than £30m. If they do somehow get him he will be loaned back I reckon, as good as he is Mourinho wouldn't throw him in the Champs league, he hasn't had a full premier league season yet.

Koff lad, thats the most clueless thing you've come out with
Ha Ha.

I underlined (and underline again) I'm against any sale. It's just that if he stays we are going to work with a very good player on the way to being a top class player and that some club will then take him away.

If the price is stupid money then maybe we can use that to better effect.

£30M from Stones = Van Dijk foir £10M and £20M plus tv cash available toward a new forward/playmaker/winger.

I don't think he really wants to move but with Sterling now making 200K?/wk I surmise that he could get at the minimum 150K/wk. I assume he would be tempted. Plus being on big $$$ club pretty much assures you an automatic place on England even if you are the No.3 guy at Chelsea and even if you don't improve.

We've done well in the past getting quality defenders from the championship or on the cheap from somewhere. Losing a defender isn't like losing a top goal scorer. So if the money is good (40Mish) and our scouting is still sound I won't worry too much about it.
Completely disagree, quality defenders now days are few and far between, much easyier to get the attackers in but to have a defender with such promise as stones is once in a generation.

And on the championship, those days of bargains have long gone, decent championship players now command upwars of 10 mil not the 1 or 2 like back in cahill days

Might work in Europe, not here. He'd be seen as a defector and hounded with every poorish performance.

I'll accept Courdado, Remy plus 10m for a Stones replacement.

Nothing less.

I want Stones to stay. Very much so. He will be an excellent player in the coming years.

For me though he'd still be learning on the job here. No question he's still rough in many aspects of his game. If we got £30M for him we can get a good replacement and then some in the short term. I wouldn't see this as big as a disaster if McCarthy moved on. Lukaku and McCarthy are our jewels in the crown as finished/almost finished articles.

I agree with all that mate, but change Stones to Rooney and its the same thing just in a modern context. It might be unrealistic but as fans there is something pure in identifying, developing and enjoying senior players. I like to think the club could share that philosphey - maybe that is unrealistic, given the power players have.

Another worry, would be would be the domino effect and encouragement to other clubs via Barkley, Cloeman, Lukaku etc.

This will all depend on the player. I don't think he will go this window but the Barnsley fan didn't exactly fill me with confidence.

If he does go it certainly won't be for less than 30m and I wouldn't want to sell him for that.

diagree mate, Easy to pick up a bargain down the leagues. We signed stones for so little because he had only entered the team. You actually scout the players and know what you are looking for then signing them cheaply isnt the issue. You let them gain experience and all of a sudden the price tag then goes up

For those who feel the sky is falling and trust Foxy's obvious ability to put trust in the signings we get in, he said Galloway was ' a f*ckin rolls royce'.
