John Stones transfer saga

Disagree with you on that.

John Stones is the real deal, havent seen an english centre back like him since Rio.
Now he is filling out a little he is only going to get better.
I genuinly think he can go and play for one of the european giants
He can defo. He has the world at his feet. But he can be ropey still positionally. I give Jagielka stick about defending crosses, but there is two of them in there and Stones gets caught ball watching too.

Lets not turn this lad into the next Bobby Moore when he isn't there yet. Keep him? Great. Fantastic. Move on with the season. If he goes he can be replaced.

This is where all those fans who bang on about us being a selling club will feel the pain now if we do sell precisely because we haven't been a selling club. Despite all the media speculation I've never been that worried about Stones Barkley Baines Coleman or McCarthy leaving, meanwhile Liverpool Tottenham, Southampton and even Arsenal for a period were flogging their best players every season. Liverpool have just shrugged off selling Suarez and Sterling back to back yet we'll go into a season of mourning if we sell Stones precisely because we're not a selling club. Still won't stop the usual blerts ignoring the reality of modern football which affects all teams and making out that we are the only selling club in the prem.

Btw would they have bid if they hadn't been given some indication from the players reps that he'd be interested?

Ha Ha.

I underlined (and underline again) I'm against any sale. It's just that if he stays we are going to work with a very good player on the way to being a top class player and that some club will then take him away.

If the price is stupid money then maybe we can use that to better effect.

£30M from Stones = Van Dijk foir £10M and £20M plus tv cash available toward a new forward/playmaker/winger.
I agree with you in 99% of what you come out with on various subjects but not this.

Hes easily in our top 3 players already, hes got the highest potential out of anyone ive seen play for us since rooney, vault me he'll be the finest CB of his generation.

When the likes of coco the clown goes to psg for 50 mil, and even fat little beut shaw cost 30 mil, would be foolish to take 30-40 mil now when hes only getting better and better.

I want Stones to stay. Very much so. He will be an excellent player in the coming years.

For me though he'd still be learning on the job here. No question he's still rough in many aspects of his game. If we got £30M for him we can get a good replacement and then some in the short term. I wouldn't see this as big as a disaster if McCarthy moved on. Lukaku and McCarthy are our jewels in the crown as finished/almost finished articles.
I disagree. We can replace McCarthy. There's plenty of decent CDM who run around all day. There's very few real quality CBs in the whole of Europe. Even fewer young ones.

The reality is if we lost McCarthy it would clear a way for Barkley, Besic and Cleverly. If we lost Stones it would be a huge loss this season and an even bigger one in seasons to come.

People need to chill out players leave and the sky doesn't fall, we're not a billionaire run club and sadly some need to accept the reality of players and the fact some want trophies.

I won't be upset if he leaves, because footy is run on money, something we don't have.
