John Stones transfer saga

Stones hasn't been with us long, didn't owe us any loyalty. 30 million is a decent profit and we will be able to purchase at least three decent players with it.

By all likeliness, he will make a mistake and be dropped by Chelsea, never to return. If he wants to sit on the bench at London, then good luck to the lad...

No player, no matter how big their potential - is bigger than Everton FC.

I'd be a bit disappointed in him "Walter Smithing" the situation in all honesty, but he's in a well paid job and his reputations on the slide after last season anyway, so I think he'll stay.

No doubt about it mate, won't be going anywhere. Very important he comes out and shows some balls though because it is going to be very easy if he just let's all this slide after all the bullish talk about him not being for sale and we won't sell him..He needs to come out imo and absolutely slate Stones and say how angry he is and that it will be HIS decision if he sells, not Stones and not the Boards.

People on Twitter still refusing to even entertain the idea Kenwright is responsible for the state we're in. Nothing will change, and it constantly amazes me how passive Everton fans aren't because "Bill's a Blue"...

Why is Kenwright to blame for the state we are in? im bored of hearing this if im honest.

I don't blame him. He's 21 years old and has the opportunity to move to the premier league champions and make a shed load of money.

Or he could stay here while we piss around with work permits for jarg South Americans.

It was said that Stones was not for sale, which is a bit different.

No, he actually said:

“When you’ve got a long-term contract those things [transfer requests] don’t change matters at all,” claimed the Everton manager. “I think the situation has gone too far that any action would change things. If a player comes in from out of nowhere and puts in a transfer request that is a different situation. In a saga of, I don’t know how many weeks now, we are very clear.” Asked whether a transfer request would weaken Everton’s resolve on a player with four years remaining on his contract, Martínez replied: “No, no.”

Question mate - would you blame Roberto in the slightest for walking off the back of this?

I actually don't believe he's had any input on this whatsoever. I think he's been badly double-crossed by Kenwright and Bobby has been woefully naive about how business is done at Everton.
If anyone's to be accused of double-crossing it should be John Stones. He's had weeks to put a transfer request in but leaves it until there's a week of the transfer window left. The club have consistently said he's not for sale so Stones has followed the advice of his suitors and put a transfer request in. I don't blame the club at all for this and can't see what they have done wrong. It's the way of football, unfortunately.

But RM won't see the money to buy players - he'll be palmed off with 10 mill or so and the rest of the dosh will be in the accounts as " Operating Costs" Sigh

Just to get it out of my system I am going to say it....John Stones....great potential to be the best....Rolls Royce on the ball.....but still only a ford focus as a defender. Hope this move does not set him back because he still has a lot to learn. Going to be hard to replace but feel we could get an adequate replacement. Long term though (if potential realised) he is going to be a big miss but that's only if Chelsea give him enough game time and don't punish him for his errors that will no doubt happen. Another season or 2 with us would do him no harm at all
