John Stones transfer saga

They did similar tactics to try and sign Rooney and we held firm. May of gone unnoticed but Chelsea don't spend BIG bucks anymore. Your more likely to get £40m+ from Utd/City than them. Reckon they'll stop at around £35m.

True, they won't pay more then 25 million for him, would be more scared if man u or city wanted him. José is trying to get stones to help push the transfer. Wonder who stones agent is anyway

Stones' agent is also Lescott's agent, Paul Martin. Part of the Wasserman Media Group agency.

Stones changed his agent to Martin, just before he signed his new 5 year deal with us last summer.

Two stories linking it all together.

a ton of NBA players use them

Haven't had time to trawl through all 99 pages. Is there anything other than the below worth reading?

He's as good as gone
He's going nowhere
Nothing less than 25M
Nothing less than 35M
Nothing less than 45M
Nothing less than 55M
The board will accept 10M and pocket the money
Stones doesn't want to go
You can see he wants to go

'Everton will resist all offers for Stones in the summer, but the friction behind the scenes leaves them vulnerable.'

What utter tripe

I'd honestly let him go for 35-40 mio. As good as he is (there is no doubt he is a class player), we need that money. We can buy 3, if not 4, really solid players for that money including CAM, backup striker, CB that is going to replace Stones and perhaps 3rd CB.

No we couldn't. Think about it.

Which playmaker would we realistically be able to get, even if we had say £20mil to spend on one. The ones who are worth that money are at CL clubs , on hefty wages, and wouldn't join us in our current position, with no European footy to offer, and just a very slim chance of getting into the top four.

Then, we'd have to get two CBs in and again, who, who is already as good/better than Stones, would then join us. And again, what £10mil striker is going to come in and be back up striker for Everton. I can understand Chelsea, or City, Arsenal etc. who have European football and need the big squad. But we don't. So why sell our best player in the hope of doing an FM like Rogers keeps trying at the RS, or Spurs tried when losing Bale.

Well we are not selling as per Martinez' comments.

Of course Mourinho was going to come out and start a media game, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter because:

1. We don't need/want to sell.
2. Martinez won't engage in the childish antics.

A lot of other clubs have used the idea of selling a world class (or potential world class player) to fund squad depth and replacements. It hasn't worked like that. Maybe Newcastle selling Caroll (?) and Soton last season. Turns out team cohesion isn't like FM and losing class players are very hard to replace.
