It'd be a shame if he left before we got to see him playing week-in, week-out for at least one full season.

Unless someone wants to break the transfer record for a defender then he's going nowhere this summer. The lad isn't going to agitate for a move either.

From his interviews he seems like a good lad with his head screwed on.

Stay with us and be a certain starter is the sensible decision for this season. If we have another crap season he will be off next summer and who could blame him.

Best talent at Everton, that's for sure.

He is a good lad and his family are sound as well. He's not your usual footballer

From what I've heard of Stones he seems like a grounded and down to earth guy - I can't seem him leaving us, well at least not yet. Leaving us for Chelsea or United right now is not a good step for his career. There's no way he'd play week in week out at either of those two clubs and also he'd be under a whole lot more pressure. IMO, he should stay with us until the end of his contract and then go from there.

If everything I just said turns out to be wrong and he wants to go, we need to get at least £35M for him, he is different class and will no doubt be England captain in years to come. If he does go I'll need a new heart as well!

Yeah i agree about Chelsea, don't think he'd make that team just yet, Zouma looks a great prospect there to compete with Terry & cahill

To be honest though, i could see him making the City team next season...Kompany struggled last season, demichelis is so so, and mangala looked really poor in some games.....not sure United have a better defender either (or defender with better potential...stones still has a way to go).....

Don't think loyalty exists in football anymore....so if any of the big boys come in with the right offer, Stones will be asking Martinez to be allowed go....

. He's not your usual footballer

So if another club ring up his agent and say they'll double his wages....you think he'll say no way, I'm happy at Everton?....

Kid's only human.....and there's never any guarantee in football that a lucrative 5 year deal that you turn down this year, will still be on the table next year....

Its a known fact that John Stones is only gonna get better.

These last couple of pages of posts are like stepping back in time, to just before you stole him from us, on our message board, most of our fans were saying stuff like he shouldn't go for a penny under £5million, and if he dose I'm done with the club, some were saying he'd give us until the summer, or maybe 18 months, because he's a Barnsley lad and he seems loyal, and he'd only warm the bench in the premier league, we ended up having our pants pulled down, and £2.2 million, Thankfully unlike our board yours seems to know his true value, so with the sell on clause of around 10% we'll end up with something like what he was really worth when you signed him.

You must be pretty shocked at how good hes become tho mate, I mean im sure you had very hopes for the lad, but he hasnt just come into the league and fitted in, at times hes been the best player on the pitch, at 20 years old.

Do you watch him much.

Whenever we do sell him, recommend your board hire private investigators/forensic accountants to determine the real 10% value you're owed. Taps nose.

The idea of forcing teams to have a certain number of home grown players was brought in to try to get teams to promote players from their own Academies.

Very rich clubs purchasing home grown players from other clubs just to fulfill the quota is a disgrace and makes a mockery of the rule.

It's about time this loophole was closed.

If Stones went to Chelsea right now (not that he will, but if he did), he'd be sitting on their bench at best, because they aren't getting rid of Terry and Cahill yet. How will that help him develop as a player?

Brilliant post.

doubt barnsley fans watch him week in week out and that's the only way they'll truly know. we're everton, our players aren't going to get analysed to the hills by SKY or MOTD. being picked for a WC at 19 is statement enough without having to watch like.

If he keeps progressing he won't be here in 1-2 years time especially if we stuck at midtable. However we will earn a lot of money. Young, good and English means at least 40mln quid

But who said that the main goal of the footballers is to develop ? I'd say they just want to make as much money as possible. If he left barnsley to play in our reserves, he will leave us to sit on the bench at richer clubs for sure. Like 99% of proffesionall footballers

We all knew he was the best player we'd had since Tommy Taylor in the 50s, in most BFC fans eyes he was always going to end up at the very top, plenty of England caps, and hundreds of of games for top top clubs, I think the way he's put his development as a player first in his choice of clubs to learn at proves this lad his one of few exceptions, and he wants to be the best player he can as quick as he can rather then as rich as possible as soon as possible, as for keeping a eye on his progress, he's a hero round these parts because the lad is absolutely fantastic as person, always speaks to people at Oakwell where he watches every BFC game that doesn't clash with EFC games, most our fans love him and follow his career very closely, I hate premier league football and what it's become, and until stones moved to Everton I hardly ever watched it, since then I've seen every EFC game live on TV, I even subscribed to BT just to watch the few EFC games they've shown. Our local paper do reports on him nearly every Friday, in fact he's been on back page for last 4 weeks, plus after every game I come on here to see what you lads and lasses have to say about him.
