Don't think this will exactly prove to a lot of Evertonians that we've shed the traditional Everton 'we need to sell to buy' ethos that's been branded into ourselves over the last 15 years or so..

Would have made a lot more sense getting a big player in before letting Stones go if only to keep nerves calm..

it's not sell to buy. the player wanted to leave, we're making a huge profit. if he didn't want to go we wouldn't sell.

also, we've got the money to spend £100 odd million probably, but couldn't without risking breaching FFP rules unless we make a quick up turn in revenue - the quickest way to do that is from a player sale...
