James mccarthys grow on trees
As far as I'm concerned
Ross barkleys don't

And if McCarthy was good enough for a top 4 team he would be playing for a top 4 team

If McCarthy was taken out of our team for the next 10 games and replaced with cleverly or besic
we wouldn't notice a difference imo
But if Barkley was taken out we would notice a big difference

We really would notice a difference. And we certainly would if Barkley left. Let's just keep all of our best players.

The only way I can see him not going in the summer is if we're going to spend serious money in the summer and have qualified for Europe again. I would'nt have any problems with him moving to Barca as that's a club that's the next logical step for him now.

If someone bids 50 million then he should be sold, even in January. The creative midfield players we could buy with that type of money could really push us on imo. Imagine having a front three of Lukaku, Yarmolenko, Williams etc. Very few teams could cope with that.

Spot on

Galloway
Stones
Barkley
Deulofeu
Lukaku

5 players we need to keep. Offer them big money to re-sign 5+ year deals and bring in two more to add to the group this summer. Butland and another...show them we mean business.

Oh God yes

But he'd be £20m if we tried.

You don't get anywhere selling your best players.

Stones is going to be the best defender in the world at some point. In a team that has no problem scoring goals, but problems defending them, this is what we need.

From the quotes I read off Martinez in the summer If the bids would have come in earlier, he would have gone and it sounded like a move in january was definitely on the cards. The fact that Chelsea have been awful and they may end up with a new manager in the summer is better for us. I fully expect Stones to be gone in the summer, I am just hoping we can keep him until the summer, watch him have a great euro's and then sell for a stupid amount of money. Hopefully not to City or Chelsea because they would ruin the lads career...................No doubt we will keep him until the summer, he will be having a great tournament we have players lined up with all the money we expect to get, last minute of Englands final game he will get injured and we will sign no players and he will be out til christmas.

Of course you can. Football is a business and the useless efforts of Spurs and the RS to replace Bale and Suarez shouldn't be held out all the time.

Other football clubs have more money than us. Therefore we have to be smarter and part of that is selling our assets (players) at the optimum time and then backing our coaches to reinvest in the right players. We can't afford to keep possibly the world's best young defender at the club if instead, by selling him, we can acquire two or three great talents in otherwise weak areas of the team.

Let's just enjoy him while we have him.

if he goes it will be for a price that not many clubs could afford to turn down. Anybody saying they would not sell him for any price isn't realistic.

Plus we have Galloway, Mori, Browning, Holgate etc who are all young and have massive potential in that position.

I don't want him to go, of course not! But for over 50M which it will inevitably be, then you have to take that very seriously.

There may be an inkling that Stones appreciates what he currently has with us particularly in the way Martinez, Jagielka and Barry allow him to develop his game. It was very noticeable the other night that when he strolled forward for England nobody reacted to it, though they knew it was part of his game. For us Jagielka knows what's happening and covers , so does Barry who in particular makes himself available for a short pass if Stones finds he has nowhere to go. We can't keep such a talent for ever, but at least another 9 months of development with us would suit him too.

Spurs are one example.

The RS are another.

Arsenal, too. They got nowhere selling Nasri, Van Persie etc. Once they stopped selling and started buying (Ozil, Sanchez) they started performing and now they're seriously challenging for the title.

Give me an example of a club which, at our level, has used the sell-to-buy model to challenge for greater things? I can't think of one.

Everton are the best example. Our progress under Moyes and even Martinez would not have been as substantial without the sale of Rooney, Lescott and Fellaini.

Well id have no problem spending £20mil.

Butland
Galloway
Stones
Barkley
Deulofeu
Lukaku

Thats just a ridiculous list and add in the other players slightly older in Mori/McCarthy/Coleman/Besic then its really a very strong group indeed.

Just need a GK /LW and playmaker for the first eleven and integrate the next wave through the youth system.

These next 3 major signings are crucial.
