He costs us games and points.

When it mattered Lampard left him on the bench and put Iwobi right back.

Maybe we’ve hired another yes man.

Wouldn’t disagree mate, I’m still annoyed about Burnley. I wouldn’t have offered him a deal.

Point being, the manager sees something, he sees value, he sees a role he sees worth.

We say all the time we need to back the manager and stop sacking them, we all said after Palace he now needs to be backed - this is it, if it’s come to pass he’s decided and acted by offering the lad a contract. It doesn’t make sense to me. But I’ll put blind faith in the managers judgement, his assessment is he sees value and worth, even if I don’t.

Personally I think he identifies with the lid, his characteristics etc, hard working, committed, good trainer, right attitude etc - right down Franks street.

Who knows we may move him on at some stage.

I understand the argument to say he’s back up, you want players pushing to get in the team tho not just making up numbers. It doesn’t work and we have been here far too often with the line of thinking.

Just a shame there doesn’t seem to be anyone from the U23s to push for a first team squad place.

How can he even be considered back up?

We have spent the last 7 years loaning him out.

It's unfortunate that he didn't play under Lampard, Clement, Cole and Baines earlier in his career. They might have made a player of him.

There's a distinct lack of Scousers in our squad, maybe Lampard sees him as an important character to have around. Anyhow, if he's staying might as well trust in the manager's judgement.
