I have genuine concerns about this signing. We’ve barely seen him in 6 months. There must be major questions marks from the coaching staff over the lad’s abilities.
FL stated time and again he wasn't up to speed in training; I doubt that was a physical thing, but more a tactics / formation shortcoming.

I know Lampard said he was about to play him before he got injured, but that sounded a bit hollow to me.

I am genuinely intrigued by this situation. I wouldn't be surprised if he was moved on. I dont think he will be, but I wouldn't be surprised by it.

We have an aging Coleman and an injured untested Patterson. Coleman may also play as part of a back three. It sort of makes sense especially if he is on a low wage. Getting rid of players is usually a problem if they are on a high wage. Truth is we don’t have the money for a quality 24 players in the squad. We either compromise across the board and buy cheaper or have some limited players who can fill in for a couple of games, who are also unlikely to rock the boat. He’s the equivalent of a 3rd goalkeeper.

I can guarantee you we won’t be able to get rid of him because whatever his wage is, it will be more than anyone else is willing to even consider offering him.

The point is that he's committed and will give his all whenever he plays. That's not something all the rest of the backup players can offer us.

I'm not pretending that Kenny signing a new deal is exciting news or anything but don't see it as the insult some are making out.

With the FFP situation we're in as well, the club will be having to make certain decisions that they may not have needed to otherwise.

This is the point, especially with FFP we can save c£2m per year for a lad who is 4th choice RB behind Coleman, Patterson and Iwobi.

I know 40,000 Evertonians that "want" to play for us every game, shall we just sign 30 of them?

You got to ask yourself why we couldn`t win when the back up players had to play, because they aren`t good enough. How many games did Kenny play on our winning streak...

It is an insult.

I think Lampard likes him. It's not unreasonable to ask why. Perhaps the bigger question though, is should a manager have such a big say in a decision.

I'm not as hard as Kenny as some people. Thought he had some good games like Leeds at home. But it doesnt make a lot of sense to renew him at 25 years old and 3rd choice. Like he should be behind Nkounkou now.

Reaslisticaly he’s utility cover for the full backs. We have Colman and Patterson & Myko and Neil’s.

Two of the four are trying to develop into first team players - both have talent but lack expierence and development. I see Kenny almost like a pacesetter in athletics, he’s competing for the covering spot and if Patterson and Neil’s want is p, they have train hard, have the right attitude, put in the work, because Kenny will. I think he’s their for third choice covet, second if a full back get injured but also to set the standard for Patterson and Neil’s to compete with-him and be better.

The thing is - Moshiri and Kenwright are still in charge of the club and we probably shouldn’t expect the reins to have been handed off to the new DOF. That’s what competent clubs do and we are not that. Hence why I’m not surprised in the slightest.

I said month back that his situation would give us a good indicator about our intentions this summer, move him on and we look to improve, a youngster could take his squad place, well we obviously don't a youngster good enough which is worrying, we don't have money.

Makes no sense to me

Some people are mistaking cost with actually needing a competent back up because whoever our right back is they will 100% unequivocally get injured at some point next season.

It’s an easy mistake to make.
