Extraordinary reaction to this.

Lads, we are skint (on paper). You can't just throw players out and expect replacement.

If he went, who fills in if Coleman, Myko or Patterson gets injured? He is being re-signed, not to play, but as a back up. He didn't play that badly when he filled in anyway.

For the money, he is worth keeping around, based on upgrading other positions and clearing out much more expensive dross like Gomes etc...
How many people have you seen saying ‘this is bad because I wanted us to go and sign a new right back’? I’ve seen none. Most people are commenting that they just don’t see the need for him to be kept on, regardless of anyone else being brought in.

Precisely

Patterson and Coleman should be enough to get us through next season, with Godfrey as cover and Mills as the youth prospect if really required.

We may well need cover at left back if Nkounkou is deemed not good enough, but that cover 100% shouldn't be Kenny otherwise we are in literally the same situation we were in this season - and look how that turned out. One injury to Mykolenko and we become a horribly unbalanced team with no attacking width whatsoever on one side of it

A number of premier league clubs and bundesliga clubs want to sign him yet a few footballing experts on this thread say he's a league 1 player hmmm

Vault me if he ends up signing for one of these clubs, but I suspect he'll stay here, pick up £1 million a year from us or more and be happy to barely play

If he was from Sheffield, doesn't get a contract.

Just appaling from the club to keep players like this

I don't think we can go into the season with Coleman and Patterson as our only right backs. Coleman is declining, Patterson is raw and just had a bad injury.

Kenny is happy to be a squad man, on low wages and will cover both RB and LB.

If we had the money to go out and sign a starting prime age RB this would be a bad move but we don't so giving him an extension makes sense even if it is disappointing.

How many other teams name three right backs in their 25 man squad?

There's also the small matter of him having proven himself to be terrible over a prolonged period
