I'd save the rage over this. Might need it for other things in the near future.
He should be released. But reaping what we've sowed over the past 5 years may just be hitting now.
I'll wait until the eve of the first game to see what other business is done. If this had been on topic by the end of some other deals this wouldnt be getting as much air time. He wont get much playing time.
I live in hope(fool)

How many people have you seen saying ‘this is bad because I wanted us to go and sign a new right back’? I’ve seen none. Most people are commenting that they just don’t see the need for him to be kept on, regardless of anyone else being brought in.
Mate, people are saying we are going to get relegated because he is staying. The reaction has been ridiculous.

This shows how dire our financial situation is, and maybe is a sign of how we aren’t clear of making financial mistakes.

Kenny put a real shift in for us at times this season, and showed that he was capable. But.. we need better.

We have two right backs.

Kenny can “cover” both sides but considering on the left we have Myko, Nkounkou (who played all season top flight in Belgium and did well when playing for us) and, in the worst case, Godfrey.

The only thing we’re possibly missing is the info on the deal. He might be on £15k a week, and we might be offering £17k a week for him to be back up over the pitch if we need it.

The other side of it might be that we want to sign him for 3 years, keep him as back up for 1 year then sell him for a couple of £m next summer?

It doesn’t really make any sense for him to sign anyway, best case he’s back up and if he can play every week elsewhere he definitely should go.

You laugh but an injury to Mykolenko and Kenny is our LB next season.
But this is the point, we are skint. Do you want us to spend £10m on cover for Myko, or invest that into much needed starting positions like a DM. For if we don't get midfield starters we will be relegated anyway.

We have to prioritise. And Kenny as a very cheap back up option, who can put in a shift, is the best of a terrible situation based on horrific mismanagement.

I would say Nkounkou would do a better job at left back than Kenny and I don’t think that’s a controversial opinion at all.

…..been saying the same for months. Kenny is poor at both ends of the pitch, Nkounkou is left footed so offers balance and can be a real threat attacking the opposition.

if we are able to tie our outstanding U23 LB on a deal, he would already be better than Kenny.

Oh I agree there I said yesterday I can see the reasoning behind it - Frankel likes his head down attitude and the club likes his cheap wages at a time of FFP austerity.

I'm trying my best to be as open minded as possible this summer - we're still a good 12 or so months away from having room to manoeuvre in the market without a big sale so we need to put our trust in the hands of Super Kev Thelwell.

Lets see what magic he can conjure up.

Well at LB we have Myko, as back up can we call on Nkounkou ?

AT RB we have Patterson so Kenny can cover so what money we have could direted to CB and midfield plus upfront as looks like Richie is going.

Nailed on that Kenny and Coleman will be vying for the right back spot next season.

It’s so Everton.

I’ve just no confidence that they will use Patterson at all.
