If we are giving him £5k a week on a 3 year deal then fine. Won't really make much difference and stays as a third choice utility man. But really we need a new first choice right back of proven Premier league quality with Patterson at his understudy
Don’t reckon they’ve spent £15m on Patterson as an understudy mate, nor will the international stick around if that was the plan. He will replace Coleman over the course of next season. We need to spend our money elsewhere.

If he genuinely has other offers then there's every chance he gets off anyway.

He might want to play.

….understandably, it’ll be more down to money. Other clubs will be able to match his salary because no fee is involved, indeed there is probably a decent signing fee on offer from somebody. The length of contract will also be a factor. He’s already a very wealthy young man.

He’ll know he’ll be a bit part player here.

For people who are against it, what is the preferred alternative? Release him and have even less cover when injuries undoubtedly ravage us? We are skint unless we sell so we won't be buying another right/leftback...nobody standing out in the youth setup so genuinely what are the detractors suggesting?

I’m suggesting to let him go and get his wages off the books to give us room to bring in a player we actually need. We will still have two right backs and two left backs.

Depends if holgate and Godfrey stay then play one of them there both better than Kenny at right back by a long way he just doesn’t have the physicality required for the premier league.

I think Kenny is a backup utility man LB or RB.
But if we were to sign two new and better CBs, I would think Godfrey is a better utility man who can play across all back 4.

So, I don't think is wise to offer big wages to Kenny. And I think is fine for being cautious on a scenario if we do not get enough reinforcement. Nathan Patterson is recovering from an ankle injury and Coleman is not as dynamic as before. And looking at our injury curse, I think it is a very cautious move because we need to focus on getting proper reinforcement in Midfield and CB.

Extraordinary reaction to this.

Lads, we are skint (on paper). You can't just throw players out and expect replacement.

If he went, who fills in if Coleman, Myko or Patterson gets injured? He is being re-signed, not to play, but as a back up. He didn't play that badly when he filled in anyway.

For the money, he is worth keeping around, based on upgrading other positions and clearing out much more expensive dross like Gomes etc...
We have to keep him because of the mess we have made throwing money away, it's a cheap option because we can't afford an expensive option to replace him.
