I'm not going to say he's poop but he's definitely been playing worse the further the season has gone on.

In fairness as with most young players he should be given a break, but Walshy totally ignored this fact.

In the summer we need to buy a RB and 2 LBs. Ease the pressure off this lad.

He's young and talented. He and Walcott were just on different pages. I actually thought Walcott made more of the strange decisions, but regardless, it didn't work today.

Walcott did him no favours yesterday. Numerous times when Walcott played a lazy effort back to him and put it behind him. Thought Kenny did OK getting forward in the first half.

Agree, not progressed at all. In fact he seems to have been going backwards in his development. Worrying!

MOTM for England U21s today. Excellent individual defensive performance in a disappointing team showing. One particular goal line clearance was match winning.

Made up for the lad.

He actually played well the other day against Romania too when he came on :)

Thought he looked far better than that alexander-Arnold guy...he looked hopeless bar two crosses.

It’s an interesting debate for England. They’ve often preferred athletic full backs who are good attackers , to the detriment of good defenders e.g. Kyle Walker-Peters, a great attacking left full back for his age displaced Callum Connolly at LB , a better defender in my view. Similarly with Alexander-Arnold, he looks more athletic and is a better attacking full back than Jonjoe, but Kenny is by far the better defender. In many ways both Kenny and TAA are playing for the right PL teams, neither would fit in as well if they swapped clubs.
The modern trend is to expect your full backs to be good attackers and good crossers of the ball, and they are often rated more on their attacking ability than their defensive nous. In this respect Kenny may suffer in his England career, but hopefully not and the tide will turn back to requiring your defenders to be good defenders first and foremost.

Hard to judge any of our defenders with the chopping and changing that has persisted all season there really needs to some consistency in personal used in the back line to have a fair measure, let alone negatively judging a young lad in Jonjoe.

nail on the head that

so hard to defend and position yourself next to a different partner every game, you get used to your partners position when playing in a settle team
