I thought his starting position was too high every time holgate got the ball therefore making the pass to him very difficult. He was poor but apart from vlasic so was everyone else

The service he received was atrocious. Not sure one pass reached him with decent weight or where he could run onto it.
Yeah he was hung out to dry a few times, mostly by Davies. But there was one give and go with Rooney that was never on that had me losing the plot with Rooney. Half arsed football from Wazza after the knock.

Played poor but so did everyone

No worse than Martina

But once again re interates my point we should have signed a top right back knowing Coleman was out and instead we went with a free that Southampton didn’t want

Don’t tell me we don’t need a top right back with Coleman because look at Spurs with two good ones.. Man City two good ones.. Chelsea.. etc etc

Tonight you can see it's not any of the RB's fault so far it's the way Koeman is setting them up. Defensively Martina and Holgate have made mistakes but all 3 have had the same problem going forward. No short option ever appears early, all 3 as soon as the CB gets on the ball are clearly being told get high up the wing to make up for a lack of a right side and it can't be done.

Kenny the other day had the advantage of being thrown on when we were already chasing the game and throwing body's forward, same outcome probably would have happened had it been reversed for Martina that day.

We would have the same problem with Coleman in this current system except for Coleman being a more experienced player and capable of still contributing with little support just enough to cover over the obvious tactical flaw in the set up.

Spot on and spot on @LouReedwalkonthewildside as well

The only time he had someone in front of him was 2nd half for 20 minutes when central midfielder Tom Davies was shoehorned over there and didn't know what to do.

Game after game the same formation with the same tactics and same players and same disjointed performance. How long is that allowed to go on for? 6 league games, 1 league cup game, 2 EL games, 4 EL qualifier games so 13 games in total and apart from half an hour against Hadjuk at home we've barely strung 2 passes together. Surely now we should be seeing some sort of shape/pattern emerging and style

Thought he played ok last night, gets it out of his feet quickly and that invariably goes forwards, relatively quiet game, but I think "poor" is going a bit far!?

Shows how bad the rest were that he stank the place out but was far from the worst. Hope he learns from it as most of the rest won't.

Love how you all attack our young players like a herd of lions on a hapless gazelle if they're not immediately world class. Don't ever change yeah?
If we had a gazelle, hapless or not, at least they would be moving faster than the crippled crabs which our team appeared to consist of last night.

(To be clear, I don't think he was particularly bad last night, he wasn't helped by his fellow players or the formation, but then I also didn't think he was the Second Coming before this game. And he definitely didn't do anything to change Koeman's mind or, indeed, the validity of his point of view on the gulf between U23 and the first team and expecting too much consistency from young and inexperienced players. See Tom Davies in this game and Lookman and DCL in others, and probably Vlasic in games yet to come.)

Before last night and after last night, I would still play Holgate on the right in the PL if he isn't needed in the centre (hopefully Keane will be back from his injury).
