Few things to point out...

He's got a year left. Any price we pay should be half of his value at most.
United don't want him as a back up as they haven't even opened talks with him.
Go have a look at Utd forums. They're not sad to be losing him and are laughing at the fee

We are paying for a back up. Jagielka and Stones are the first choice pairing, so Evans is a back up. There won't be rotation.

Not only that, Evans coming in stunts the chances of our youngsters getting games and coming through like Stones did.

And on top of that, we're paying bloody £8m - is that our record fee for a centre half? Not far off it.

It's an all round joke of a transfer.

Hang on, we've been talking about needing an experienced centre back since the season finished and now that we're signing one it's holding our youngsters back?
