Jonny Evans. Strongly linked by proper newspapers. Hmm.

Assuming he comes for, lets say, 6m upfront, then is he ?

The prices being banded about do seem to be a little high but we need the experience.
All it will take is Jags or Stones to get snapped in half by Troy Deeney in the first game and we'd be stuffed, without this cover we'd be relying on Galloway/Browning to cover who are relatively untested in the Prem yet.
Bring that price down and we're looking at a sensible deal.

Get over it - he's miles better than Alcatraz and Distin circa 14-15 - we badly need a decent EXPERIENCED back up for Jags and Stones. If he doesn't go off the rails then, after a season sitting on his backside, he'll move on with Galloway ready to challenge.

You pay what you can reasonably afford to pay in relation to how desperately you need or want the player. Dann was by no conceivable measure worth 15m quid of our money.
But he was to Crystal Palace. Evans is by no conceivable measure worth £8m. Contract has less than a year and he is their 5th choice CB.

Can see man u trying to over charged over fellaini and not getting baines, they won't do us any favours, he should do a cleverley, go on loan then sign for us next season on a free but Martinez needs a defender this summer

To be honest it gives me a bit of hope that we've got our playermaker identified if we're doing this deal first. I doubt it's £8m as a straight up fee given the contract situation and Utd openly looking for recruitments in defence though. Utd are clearing the decks and if Martinez thought it was to much we'd ask him to sit tight like with McCarthy and Cleverley and try and hold our nerve till the last minute.

He's a good player and if we end up meeting any add ons to the initial fee it will be because he's done well.

Never thought of it like that, so you could be onto something there.

I don't mind him and welcome the player to our club. He brings premier league experience and is still at a decent age, approaching his peak years. I'm shocked at the valuation considering he is out of contract in 12 months time and his injury record.

He was decent at both of them clubs and won a trophy with one. Also I highly doubt you watched a lot of Birmingham and Blackburn either.

He has been praised by fans for whatever club he has played for.

And I'm guessing you watched both religiously?

Whatever. I suppose that's why samba commanded the dough (£13m?) when he was with dann at B'burn??

As has been asked - £16m for him? One standout season does not make him worth that amount.

1) £8m is way too much money!
2) He's pretty injury prone... stop buying injured players!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
