What, he’s doing the exact same thing he did for us last season. He wasnt good enough then and isnt now.

lol

He's more than good enough ffs. Won us more points than he's lost us.

He made a mistake yesterday and needs to cut it out. It was a stupid kick. He wasn't the only guilty party though, but that one cost us.

Really?

I get the blame for the second goal. And he should really have stepped to his right as soon as Yarmolenko had the ball there because everyone knew what would happen.

But on the first goal, Pickford is kind of caught in between. He looks like he's going to try and close down Arnautovic a bit, but then realises Yarmolenko is there. He tries to spread himself but it's a good finish.

It's a bit of a stretch to be blaming the goalkeeper when someone scores a tap in from six yards out, lad.
Do people on here not understand the concept of critical thinking?

I’m not BLAMING Pickford for the first goal, just pointing out that he seemed to hesitate when the ball was shifted, and didn’t get out as quickly as he could. There’s no suggestion that it was a simple save, just that I think he could possibly have done a bit better.

Not everything is black and white, you don’t have to be incredible or appalling, sometimes players can be questioned even if they haven’t been utterly atrocious and thrown one into their own net, lad.

really like pickford, quality keeper

but he needs to pipe down a little, think theirs a fine like between confidence and arrogance and he seems very arrogant atm, not solely at faulty for the second goal but needs to cut stuff like that out

Neves free kick , fumbling the shot that Ings nearly scored from, and the kick today. He’s making mistakes far to often , 5 games and theee massive mistakes

Almost like people have an agenda and will blame everything they can on a player not being good enough when he is comfortably the best goalkeeper outside of the top 6. Which is where we are at.

He atoned for the Ings mistake. It happens. It was a dipping, swerving shot. It wasn't an easy one to deal with, even though he should have dealt with it.

Yesterday he made a cock up with that clearance. Digne and Zouma for some reason handed Yarmolenko the freedom of the park to cut in on his better foot and Pickford should have known to step to his right.

He's 24. The entire defence is abysmal at doing it's actual job, and the rest of the team for that matter.

This is my point. As a team, we don't defend with any calm or assurance, no matter who is playing. So to pin everything on the goalkeeper - who was by far and away our best player over the last 12 months - is ludicrous.

I love how it's become fact in the Pickford hating world that the 180mph shot into the postage stamp was scored because Pickford moved slightly to his right.

A slight misjudgment maybe.....a massive error? No.

He gifted the second goal and should have saved the third. The first was clearly nothing to do with him.

He needs to show some humility and sort his head and attitude out.

I think he could have done better for the third but in fairness it's a good finish. Close to his body, difficult to get to.

Overall a bad day at the office for him and everyone else.

Fair enough. And I agree players can be questioned.

I didn't follow the whole thread, and just saw your post and replied to it.

I think it's harsh to say he could have done better on the first goal, so I disagree.

I think we can obviously be critical of the second and as @ToffeeTim suggested, maybe even the third.

But our fans - and this is the strange thing, because they're OUR fans - seem to have had it in for OUR goalkeeper just because he did well in the World Cup. It's such a weird mentality, it really is.

People seem happy when he makes a mistake (this isn't directed at you). It's weird. Really weird.

Fabianski looked better tbh

Did he?

He didn't get close to any of the big chances we missed bar that Tosun header straight at him.

Pickford didn't have a save to make apart from the goals and a header that was straight at him.

Had our finishing being better, we'd have drawn or won. That's the fine margins. And we were awful.

I've said it before, if he takes that step to his right, Neves hits it over the wall and he saves it people would be raving about it. He took a gamble to give him a better chance of saving a shot, it didn't work. Move on.

Alisson did the exact same against Palace but Milivojevic went over the wall and it turned a potentially difficult save into something completely routine. Didn't stop them lot from proclaiming it the best save since Banks though.
