Even if you were right, there's an 11 goal difference between 10 & 21.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the odd save aside, he doesn't do enough. People say its the defences fault, well he's an important part of that defence and it's his job to organise what's in front of him.

he's young and makes the odd mistake ( even the divisions best keepers make mistakes ) we'd be a LOT worse without him

he's a top keeper, and he's one of the few plus points we have atm

Although I think he can be erratic he’s not the real problem. Silva needs to settle on a back four and will need to buy midfielders in January as none of them can run a game, tackle or play the ball forward.

He does organise what's in front of him.

The goals they scored yesterday came from mistakes which left the defence unorganised (and one was a world class finish, the other was offside).

He's one of our best players. It's mental we have our own fans so ready to turn.

I can't believe it was like this in the 80s?

No it wasn’t mate. Because social media didn’t exist and the constant desperate need for validation wasn’t there.

he's similar to sceszny 5 years ago, little bit erratic only making less mistakes, the man is now First choice for juventus..GK for 10 years

your right, but he makes a lot of errors.
He does tha hard things well and messes up the easy things.
we could of had a ronaldinho seamen situation yesterday and went for the hollywood save yesterday and dived to the bottom left even thoguh the ball was in the top left. Not saying he should of saved it, but he should of seen the direction of the ball was top left

Does he?

He doesn't make any more errors than any other goalkeeper. But we're hypercritical, as always.

Not many goalkeepers would have made that save from the Ramsey shot yesterday. Pickford did.

No goalkeeper in the world keeps out that Lacazette goal.

You're expecting actual miracles then, not brilliant goalkeeping. Best praying to a higher power than venting on an internet forum for that. Not a single goalkeeper in the history of football saves that Lacazette shot.

Was literally straight at him like

It wasn't though.

Pickford was diving low to his left and shot skewed high to his right. He had to adjust mid-dive and get to it.

He didn't make any mistakes yesterday. He's made two this season and they've cost us. Room for improvement, of course there is, but the criticism he gets is mostly unfounded.

If anything I'd say the praise he gets is mostly unfounded. He's just a really average keeper but that's probably our level at the minute

he almost did a seamen, also i am pretty sure he booted the ball out of play from a goal kick.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable here. I've not said he cant/wont improve. But let's just look at this for moment. In the last 4 years, here are a list of people who have been at fault for our defences misgivings:

Martinez, Howard, Oviedo, Alcaraz, Mori, Joel, Pennington, Koeman, Williams, Jagielka, Baines, Koeman, Stekelenberg, Kenny, Keane, Holgate, Schneiderlin, Allardyce, Davies, Silva...

And here's a list of people who weren't at fault:

Pickford, Gueye.

Tell what's fair about that?

I can see you are trying to be edgy and say that people in this thread turn a blind eye to Pickford and Gueyes mistakes. Which isn't true. I say when Pickford makes a mistake and of course he does, he is a young goalkeeper. Its people who fabricate supposed mistakes like not saving things that go top corner or are smashed at him from 5 yards out which irritate me. People love a scapegoat but to pick probably one of the best players in our team is absolutely ridiculous.

ok, the ones in bold have been sacked or binned from the club because theyre not good enough

our defence has been largely poor for years hence why people are coming and going, but one thing is for certain is that the goalkeeping side of it is sorted for now, as is the left back ( digne looks quality ) so once we bet coleman/mina back fit we could become a good solid unit again

just think how many time that5 back 4 has changed in the last couple of seaons, you'll never have a good solid defence when it's getting changed every week

I'm not trying to be edgy at all, it's a gripe I've had for a while, that certain people criticise some players based on nothing more than a preconceived impression (ie, Joel), yet are willing to overlook similar flaws in others and attach no blame because of a reputation.

And its not just Pickford/Joel, see also Baines/Oviedo, Tosun/Niasse, Sigurdsson/Rooney (or Barkley), and Gueye/every other centre mid we've had since Moyes.
