2018/19 Jordan Pickford

I'm not trying to be edgy at all, it's a gripe I've had for a while, that certain people criticise some players based on nothing more than a preconceived impression (ie, Joel), yet are willing to overlook similar flaws in others and attach no blame because of a reputation.

And its not just Pickford/Joel, see also Baines/Oviedo, Tosun/Niasse, Sigurdsson/Rooney (or Barkley), and Gueye/every other centre mid we've had since Moyes.

I agree mate, that is ridiculous.

That's mainly because people like to set their opinion early and enforce it throughout a players time with Everton so that when they leave they can try and say they were right all along. As oppose to admitting they were wrong or maintaining a neutral point of view which is impossible for some on the internet.

so? it's not like it's his fault for 21 of those goals, put de gea in goal and they still score double figures

the best he's looked in a while was whilst playing for England, why? because he had good solid defenders in front him

he is far from our problem at the moment, he actually had a good game yesterday as well
His job is to stop goals from happening against us. Thats his one and only task. How can you say ‘so?’ to statistics like that then?
Put DeGea in goal and you would at least half those goals, and belive me, letting in 10 is a lot better than letting in 21.
If anyone bids big for him again, which I really doubt anyone will, we need to sell him and get a real keeper.

Half?!?!?
I mean at least try to keep it realistic!

With them inarguable statistics that you have provided I can only agree, we should drop him and put Stekelenburg in for the rest of the season until we can sign a "better" goalkeeper.

Honestly i wouldn't put him in the top 12 goalkeepers in the league.

De Gea.
Lloris.
Horn.
Cech.
Alisson.
Begovic.
Kepa.
Ederson.
Patricio.
Pope.
Fabianski.
Schmeical

That's a sad indictment for the fee we actually paid for him when 9 keepers on that list cost less than the fee we paid.

talking out of your hoop, de gea is a cat but from what I can remember from last season and yesterday none of the goals scored by arsenal are ones pickford really had a chance with

his job is to stop goals yes, but it's not as easy as that, you put de gea in goal for us and he concedes just as many as pickford ( obviously he'll make a few more saves because he's probably the worlds best keeper )

Horn- Based on his zero appearences so far
Begovic- oh wow
Pope- world cup agrees with you
Fabianski- you want to dig some stats up for him last season?
schmecial- good keeper prone to mistakes like most keepers

I don't think I'm being unreasonable here. I've not said he cant/wont improve. But let's just look at this for moment. In the last 4 years, here are a list of people who have been at fault for our defences misgivings:

Martinez, Howard, Oviedo, Alcaraz, Mori, Joel, Pennington, Koeman, Williams, Jagielka, Baines, Koeman, Stekelenberg, Kenny, Keane, Holgate, Schneiderlin, Allardyce, Davies, Silva...

And here's a list of people who weren't at fault:

Pickford, Gueye.

Tell what's fair about that?

Nobody is saying he isn't at fault for the mistakes he makes.

Same with Gueye.

But he didn't make mistakes yesterday. He's a good goalkeeper, who needs to improve still, but at 24 has bags of potential to do so

I rate him as a good keeper already. But if he wants to become a properly great keeper, he needs to concede only 1 or even keep clean sheets on days when he is particularly exposed.
I think his reactions have looked a bit sluggish since he came back.

He's just about worked himself back up to sharpness now and I'd expect that to improve.

He - and we - desperately need a clean sheet soon. Hopefully it comes against Fulham.

he almost did a seamen, also i am pretty sure he booted the ball out of play from a goal kick.

That cross hit the corner of the crossbar. It was a lucky dip. He couldn't have got to it, because it dropped from above the bar.

Digne did one in the second half that hit the post, but it wasn't ever going in either.
