I'm not trying to be edgy at all, it's a gripe I've had for a while, that certain people criticise some players based on nothing more than a preconceived impression (ie, Joel), yet are willing to overlook similar flaws in others and attach no blame because of a reputation.
And its not just Pickford/Joel, see also Baines/Oviedo, Tosun/Niasse, Sigurdsson/Rooney (or Barkley), and Gueye/every other centre mid we've had since Moyes.
I agree mate, that is ridiculous.
That's mainly because people like to set their opinion early and enforce it throughout a players time with Everton so that when they leave they can try and say they were right all along. As oppose to admitting they were wrong or maintaining a neutral point of view which is impossible for some on the internet.
