1)Signing a new deal has no affect on his transfer value because he had 3 and a half years left on his current deal

He makes mistakes and is still learning, but his height and reach also goes against him, unless he hits the level of de gea I cant see any of the top 6 going for him.

Liverpool and chelsea needed a keeper in the summer none of them looked at pickford or schmeical. The first names on the list were oblak, allison and arizabalaga

I think both Joey and I will be aligned on this issue; that Pickford is overrated but better than Robles

different scenario, pickford had a long time left.

It was a new contract to essentially give him a pay rise.

whether a person has 4 years left or 6 years left, it makes no difference on his transfer value what so ever,

bottom line, it wasnt needed yet

but he had a gentlemans agreement as reported, we want to keep our best players happy so not honouring that might have made him unhappy

secondly im sure when barkley/rom signed long term deals years before they was sold we never thought it was an issue either, what would happen if pickford had 2 boss seasons now and only had 2 years left? what then? we'd have to sell him to get a fee, now we get ATLEAST 4 years out of him on our terms

Him and Pickford are pretty similar in terms of quality and Pickford is only a year older.

Add in the fact he's England's number one, in the mental Premier League market anyway - which is inflated for homegrown players - and now he's on a six-year deal, £60m would be our starting price (not that we'll sell him any time soon).

Yes. On his day he is a good keeper. He hasn't had many of those days this season though.
