2018/19 Jordan Pickford

It's not easy for a goalie to give an assist, but he was a big part of two in this match. Getting caught up in a silly
dribble looked bad, but that'll stick in his mind and it probably won't happen again. I thought he had a good game.

When exactly was that peak mate lol
Ok, I refuse to get into a Howard debate so this will be my only post on the matter. Howard is 7th all time in prem clean sheets and averaged one every 3 games. Pickford is currently worse than 1 in 5 and has a grand total of 15 to his name in 77 games. He’s got room to grow and it’s ignorant to ignore that Howard was good if not great for quite a while.

In interview with ITV:

"I tried to look for Eric but he weren't there. The ball got stuck under us feet, like, and there were nothing I could do about it".

The lad's thick.

There was EVERYTHING he could have done to avoid that calamity.

As said above: if he's indulged like a child he'll carry on making these balls ups.

Pickford is the ross barkley of goal keepers

Ive been lucky to see some of tbe worlds greatest keepers, Southall, Banks, Shilton Clemence Jennings to name but a few. But I wonder how they would have dealt with the back pass rule and the lighter balls we use today. Pickford isnt up there with them, but into days game hes doing good and as long as he learns from his mistake he will improve.

Southall handled the pass back rule fine, just kick it as hard as you can , job done

Howard is gash, that list means nothing really, isn’t David James up there? Maybe even top?

James Ian 2nd and swarzer 3rd howard 7th Hart 11th.

Shcmeichel is 10th. I know who I would pick out of that list as my preferred gk. Howard was dog tang from day one mate, I used to call him the scare crow .

Tim Howard was an accomplished GK when he joined Everton. He wasn't as good as Martyn or Southall, but not many are. He was a better GK than this erratic lad we have now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I've never seen him win a game for us by being unbeatable. Never seen him having one of those matches when he just cant be passed.

Tim Howard was not an accomplished keeper at Premier League level when he joined Everton. That simply isn’t true, dave. He’d sat on United’s bench for 2 years after a largely awful first season. And he was very erratic himself.

Pickford a brilliant save against Stoke with minutes left to keep us 1-0 up. That is the definition of winning a game for us by being unbeatable. He’s made other big saves that have changed games or kept us in them (Bournemouth at home, West Ham at home, Split away etc). As goalkeepers should I might add.

Have we seen a truly special performance from him e.g. Nigel Martyn at Anfield or Southall in 95? Possibly not. But only the very best have more than a couple of those in a whole career, and he’s 24 with one full Premier League season under his belt.

At the moment, except for maybe Digne and Richarlison, he’s the least of our worries. Get in the centre back or striker threads if you want a good moan.

Made up we’ve got Pickford and now that he’s firmly No.1, he’s bringing a lot of extra attention to the club.

There aren’t many in this league better than him. I’d say only De Gea and Ederson, for certain, but De Gea looks to be on the slide at present.
I reckon Courtois is the best goalie at the moment.

He was literally in the PFA team of the season that year. You can’t just make stuff up. Now I’m done.

Mate he's so far played for a Sunderland team who've ended up in league one and the worst Everton side in a decade, whereas Howard played for multiple league winners united, and probly Everton best side in a decade....

Lol lol lol

Unless you count Sunderland!

Why is he thick Dave? Is it because he has an accent? What he said was true...it did get stuck under his feet and he offered an explanation.. It happens to all keepers in a stage of there career. It was a mistake, he has held his hand up to that mistake and he will move on from that mistake so all we need is for you to move on from the mistake rather than use it as a dagger for eternity. You really are a very dramatic man who makes mountains out of mole hills and thrives on it.

I reckon Courtois is the best goalie at the moment.

I’ve seen De Gea and Courtois have games where literally it’s felt like every single shot against them has gone in. Lloris got caught out in the World Cup final doing a cruyff turn! Peter Shilton is probably responsible for putting us out of two world cups. Even the best have moments of bad form (Neuer’s having a whole year of it) and games when they’re awful but it doesn’t mean they don’t have the talent. Pickford has great distribution, is a leader, has fantastic reflexes and can pull off brilliant saves. He’s got the technical ability to be a top goalkeeper yet as soon as he makes errors some fans want him branded as Chris Kirkland mark 2. The cruel reality for his critics is that he performed exceptionally well at the World Cup actually making saves and winning a penalty shootout for us. Who was the last England keeper to do that? English football history is defined by Bonetti being crap, Shilton not jumping, Seaman flapping Ronaldinho’s in, Rob Green v the USA, Calamity James, Joe Hart vs Iceland and just about anyone. Then a goalkeeper comes along and at a World Cup pulls off some unbelievable saves and in a penalty shoot out and what is the response? ‘Ah yeah bit what about that one against Januzaj, and that Colombia one was going wide anyway’. Utter morons, and it’s embarassing that some of those people are Everton supporters.

We made Pickford into England’s number 1 and unfortunately for the detractors he’s playing well in the role and no other English keeper is even in the same ball park at the moment. Get used to it haters, he’s not going anywhere.
