That's the job Brands was hired to do. If United inquire and Marcel says £70 mil is the price take it or leave it and they agree to it I say well done...as long as he has a plan already in place on who to reinvest that money on.
What is the value of saying no?

Silly offer, truly silly, maybe. But what if we allow ourselves the thought that a longterm plan with our new coach and dof is in place? I like to believe even they need a player or three at this point to prove a point. That this is a place to be, keeping hold of some our valuables must surely mean something? Our maybe I'm just naive in thinking this.

The reality it is that every player in the world has a price Neymar had a price, CR7 had a price, Bale had a price, Lukaku had a price, Pickford has a price.

We shouldnt worry about when/if he leaves, just enjoy the moment, just enjoy now.

Oh I truly enjoy what we have in Pickford. And I'm not blind for the money we could get. But when did we last make an example of it? That we wanted to build on something?

I get this of course, but we all have to start somewhere? Keeping the right players at the right time? We are not there yet,to pick and choose what players we keep or sell just to make up the nuances of the team? I'm not having a go at you tonight,it's just that I actually believe in the importance of keeping key players to keep some sort of momentum

I get what you are saying. I really do. I think we did the right thing saying no with Stones...it just all went pear shaped.

When we refused Stones to Chelsea.

I get what your saying, but to go back to my first point, every player has a price, sadly.

A helluva lot less money to invest in the squad.

If we were one or two players away from competing for a title then yeah...sometimes no is the right answer. We need improvement all over the place. Being sentimental will not move us forward.
I agree to a certain point with the sentimental stuff, but who should we replace him with? That could put the same amount of confidence into the team?

Atletico Madrid finished 7th the season they sold De Gea. The next three seasons they finished 5th, 3rd, and 1st in that order.

Everyone is for sale at every level of world football for the right price.

If De Gea goes to Real, and United come in with a silly bid, we would be foolish not to consider it.
And yet again we're their feeder club and not their competitor.

From a manager's perspective I of course don't know if Pickford is crucial to our backline or team in total, but were any of those players crucial to their team at the time? Sometimes the key players should be kept for the time needed ,and at this moment I believe Pickford could be a really important player for the next year or three.
