Our highest finish in the League was the season after we fed them Rooney. At the end of the day we are miles behind financially and their are rules in place that make it very hard to compete.
We were skint then. Now when we gamble on a player and he comes up trumps we should build on him, them unless they themselves want out, ala Lukaku.

From a manager's perspective I of course don't know if Pickford is crucial to our backline or team in total, but were any of those players crucial to their team at the time? Sometimes the key players should be kept for the time needed ,and at this moment I believe Pickford could be a really important player for the next year or three.

Neymar maybe wasnt a crucial player to Barca, CR7 to United? Think they still won the league after he went, so no, Bales was pretty crucial to Spurs and whilst it could be said they wasted most of the money from his sale, they did use it to bring in Eriksen who is now pretty crucial.

Look I agree with you, if we want to improve, we cant keep selling our better players and it would be nice to keep hold of them and build a team around them, but we get offered very good money and most of the fees are hard to turn down, plus once a player wants away, its very, very hard to keep them against their will. Not really going great for the boy Mahrez at Leicester.

By that logic every club in the world is United's feeder club.
Being churlish there. They used up Rooney and handed him back a has been in the same deal that took our latest world class forward away.
Now let's take their coin for another one of our fine players and a pat on the head. No bid anyway, it's a moot point . Enjoy watching him as an Everton player instead of trying to do Brands job for him for which you are nowhere near qualified.

Pretty sure I said the same thing a few posts ago.

And at no point have I said we should sell him, so pipe down plantpot.

So maybe we should have kept Rooney?

Thanks,
I totally agree with the part where players want to leave. Hopefully Pickford wont. I guess I'm just desperate for us putting our foot down.
