2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Some people dont see the scale of the problem we have against Liverpool, and their backing up Pickford is part of that problem.

It's an unvirtuous circle we've gotten into as a fanbase: the acceptance of smackdowns from that lot which is conveyed to the players who then accept their 'fate' in a derby which is then accepted again by fans and then on we go to more and more reversals.

Understand this: no wins in a derby since 2010 and no wins at Anfield for 19 years is an unbearable stigma and an utter humiliation that cant be handled by many of us anymore.

Pickford's howler and his woeful post match comments have to be seen in that context.

It's. A. Football. Game. Get the heads out the ground, hold them high and move on, personally I'm more focused on my job today than dwelling on yesterday

Dave stop being an utter prat, your faux outrage is cringe worthy and just makes you look an even bigger clown than you usually are. Wanting a player knocked out for a mistake, Jesus wept

It’s the glee in which he approaches it , “quick to the keyboard a new dead horse to flog”

Turned it off after the goal. What were his comments?

How on earth do you hold your head high with this derby record?

Let's have it right - and it pains me to admit this - but they are completely dominant over their city rivals in a way that no other traditional top flight rivals have ever been dominant.

It is a cause for shame and embarrassment. It is an organisational disaster of epic proportions.

I'm ashamed of this club in terms of its record against Liverpool. It shames and disgraces every Evertonian there is. Anyone who doesn't share that pain aren't carrying the same emotions I do for this club.

I hold it high because I'm damn proud to say I'm an Evertonian, do I wish our derby record was better? Damn straight I do but I will still hold it high, life is too short to be miserable all the time

But it's not, and it IS a disgrace and it IS humiliating.

In case you feel the answer didnt quite reflect what was said here are some actual quotes .

“ I just want to say sorry to the Everton fans.”

“There is always a case as a goalkeeper if you make an error it will lead to a goal. Unfortunately, it has been me today but I will be ready for Newcastle on Wednesday. We know we held our own against a good Liverpool side for 96 minutes. I will say sorry to the Everton fans again because I know how much it means to them. “

“You make mistakes every now and again. It’s not something you can learn and train and get better from. “

Basically: "Everton suffered their traditional bad luck against Liverpool. There's nothing could be done about it. But 'sorry' anyway".

Not slating him, but it was POOR decision making! Cost us a much deserved point. Wouldn't have minded as much if he hadn't came out previously stating how he wouldn't blunder like Alisson.....I was sent a link to that comment by every RS mate I know.... :(
