I think he needs to mature a bit tbh - he's a bit too exuberant. Basically, he needs to calm his tits.

I still think he's a great keeper and he'll prove that in the long term.

Yeah but I need to know Dave’s opinion on him, he’s not made that quite clear in this thread Zzzzzz

It's not a crime to be critical of the lad. People were getting all defensive of Stones when he was getting pelters for taking risks.

He goes to man city and inevitably has to go through the process of making mistakes and getting dropped.

If we want to be a top 4 side let's have top 4 standards.... no one is asking for him to be sold or disciplined. He just needs to realise that whilst he's a good lad he probably needs to take stock of things he needs to improve.... his decision making being one.

That's fine. And I'm sure the coaches will be telling him that.

But that's not what some of the criticism has been.

He happens to be right. Or maybe you think Pickford doesn't have an issue with concentrating on what he's doing?
I'm not sure concentration is the issue. I see where your coming from, but there have been games where he has had to do nothing for a while and then make a brilliant save. It's more decision making, when and where to do something. That comes with experience, I do think the positives of what he brings massively outweigh the negatives though in the grand scheme of things.

And as for the Merson part, the bloke chats constant wham and gets paid handsomely for it. You know that as well as I do. I'd take an opinion of a player from my Mum over Paul Merson.

It matters not that there have been instances where he concentrates in games for the full 90 minutes. It matters that he does it for ALL matches. That's what professionals do. That's why they're called professionals. And it's the minimum that should be demanded of an England no1, surely?

Davekayfabe is right and I for one am enjoying his comments it's helping get over that derby one page at a time.

But that just wrong. The only reason this thread has so much traffic right now is because a certain poster and one or two others have demanded that Pickford suffer every indignity possible. From being dropped and sold on too declaring hin the worst keeper in the prem and even advocating assaulting the lad! Pretty much everyone (including people who normally agree with the leading poster) just feel that this has all gone well OTT. As I and many others have repeatedly said, NOBODY is defending Pickford over his mistake. It was a joke and everything is angry and upset about it. That does not mean however that everyone is prepared to all lose our collective minds and suggest we'd be better off with Stek in goal until we can bring in Pope! Let's have some perspective.
