His biggest problem is clearly decision making. I wonder is Chris Woods still the goalkeeping coach because if he is he needs to get busy with Pickford on this aspect of his game. He is still young enough for it to be improved.

Being dropped for a game or 2 wouldn't do him any harm at this point especially as squad rotation will be utilised anyway over the next few games. Give Steke a shout and see what happens.

As a few of us feared at the time that error versus them lot has completely derailed us. And the tackle on Alli shows his head has gone. He has an unenviable knack of being in teams that concede lots........

Probably even more than the monumental balls up for the first spurs goal, the one that did it for me today was the goal from the free kick where he sets the wall up and anticipates where the ball is going...but fails to get to within a foot of the near post on a half paced free kick before it's in off the post.

That is abysmal ale house standard goal keeping.

Deserves to be dropped and should be dropped but who replaces him. The hologram or an untested youngster still learning his trade. We must be the only premier league team that hasnt got a reliable back up goal keeper. Pickford has very little competition which is doing no good whatsoever for his performances and over inflated ego.

But we don't have an alternative, that's the problem, we need one, if only to take the pressure off Jordan
What will be a massive indictment on Silva is who he starts against Lincoln

Our options aren't ideal but it's a necessity right now.

I'd back the young kid for 2 or 3 games.

It's important to create a culture of no one being beyond dropping.

Chris Woods left ages ago, we have 1 of Marcos boys now.

But its quite difficult to polish an utter turd.

Today was the 75434th premier league goal hes conceded.

It’s arrogance for me, all the World Cup has led to a huge degree of hubris over confidence that’s impsired his concentration and specifically decision making.

I’d drop let him click his heels for s couple if games and bringing him back in.

His talent isn’t in question, his side is psychological at the moment.
Oh I disagree with you there mate. I struggle to appreciate any side of this feller's game.

Never commands his area (even his 6 yard box); terrible one on one; kicking a joke for the most part; cant claim a cross; awful spatial awareness.

He is right up there with the worst Everton GKs I've seen. He's the Naismith of GKs.

That game is one of my earliest Everton memories.

Why didn’t I just stop there ffs!
cos they made you dream of more cups and glory. that day was a day to behold. I got suckered in too.

remember having to go out into the garden and kick my mitre delta against the wall in angst, as I just couldn't bare to watch the last few minutes, went back in when I heard me dad cheering!

What are are you on about Frank?! We lost 6-2 at Villa you absolute loon.

I don't think he does have delusional tendencies, I think the issue is he over thinks a lot, which is even more dangerous, it's not helped by the fact the back line keep passing back to him instead of trying to push forward

It's becoming a bit of thing with people passing the ball back to him, the England team also do it, he should be yelling at them to stop it but that doesn't happen. He has the problem of being involved far too much in games, if he's not it's like he feels as if he should be and starts doing stupid things. Right now we have a poor defense anyway which isn't helping but that's part of his job too, he's there to make sure they're organised and protecting him, he's the one with the game being played out entirely in front of him.

You know it's going badly for him when he's talked about as much as he is, the best goalkeepers make things look easy, they're usually going week in week out flying under the radar because of their lack of visual involvement.

Not for me mate, he has talent, plenty off it and there is head room for development there. For me he is at a specific stage of development, he has achieved and been exposed to an awful lot in a short space of time. To be honest I think he has become arrogant and thinks he’s still the star performer in the latter stage of the World Cup. He needs to learn that success has to be hard earned all the time and he is a dum of an over all part. That today was arrogance and hubris, as was What happened in Mordor to a degree.

There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance, confidence can be used for focus and composure, arrogance leads to ego feeding, which is what we are seeing.

I’d drop him personally for two games and teach him a bit of humility and try to get him to reflect to progress. He’s a young lad though and this is just a stage in his development.

I disagree on his ability, for me the keeping position has changed hugely in the last three years. He is a very good shot stopper, he’s excellent at sweeping (apart from today), no keeper is good on crosses anymore it’s a skill gone out of the game because of keeper being targeted and blocked, they are told not to go for them because it’s high risk. They are told to punch it only if it’s anywhere in there range. I think his distribution is excellent myself and we need that the way Silva has us playing from the back. He will improve as well I have no doubt about that he’s still a kid.

Like I said I think the keeper position has changed fundamentally in two seasons. Where it was fine to have s good tall shot stopper in there a couple of years ago, we are now in the age of sweeper keepers, by that I mean a keeper had to sweep, come of goal to cut out a long ball a striker is runningin to, playing out from the back they are the safety player, if the defender is high pressed he is the out and has to distribute either long or short, that’s in addition to being a good shot stopper, managing your degree and set prices etc.

I think we evaluate keepers on skill sets from the past, these days we need to judge keepers on new skill sets as the role is changing before our eyes and they have a completely different role now as the game has involved.

It’s no longer 10 outfield and 1 in, It’s 11 outfield.
